CASIO, CASIOTONE & Synthesizers - Vintage to Modern
If it makes noises it may well be featured!
More Casio XW-PD1 exploration. Trying to get its USB MIDI to talk with my CZ101 and HT700 that use the older 5 pin DIN MIDI standard. Let's see if I can get them partying together!
The Behringer CZ-1 Mini is likely going into production at approx. $99! I'll be curious to see how it compares with the real Casio CZ-1, a truly wonderful Phase Distortion Digital Synthesizer from the 1980s. A shame that Casio aren't the ones releasing it, but if you don't give the market what it wants, someone else will... I might have to get one and put it head to head with my CZ-1 like I did in my CZ101 vs CZ-1 "David and Goliath" video!
This is a new one, a "Cosmotone CST-2000" from 1987. In all the years that I have been collecting and researching vintage Casios, I have NEVER seen this model before! It apparently uses the CZ Phase Distortion sound engine, and possibly the MT (or RZ?) series drums. Thanks to the Casio Keyboards & Digital Pianos FB group for the heads up.
New video uploaded!

Working on a new video, and at one point you'll get to see my CT403, CZ101 and XW-PD1 in action together. I wonder what this video will be about?!!!
I'm still trying to get my head round my Casio XW-PD1, so I asked Jersey to help me understand it better. I think she found it just as confusing!
Casio Chaos Theory wishes a very Happy Thanksgiving to all those celebrating it today!
I've finally completed and uploaded my Casio VL-1 video! In typical Casio Chaos Theory tradition, I thought this video would be a quick and easy one to put together. It was anything but! Hopefully the end result is worth it, as it covers just about everything to do with the iconic little VL-1's synthesizer section. Enjoy!

My Casio VL-1/ VL-Tone Synthesizer video is almost done! In typical CCT fashion, I thought this would be a quick and easy video to make, but of course, it grew into something much, much bigger. It's very revealing!
Gotta share this. Simon the Magpie has just dropped a new video featuring a Casio MG-510 MIDI guitar. Check out the jam segment using multiple VSTs all being played simultaneously by a single MG-510 input!

I was watching some re-runs of Father Ted recently, and in the episode "A Song For Europe", Father Dougal is seen playing a Casiotone MT-70! They even won the Eurovision Song Contest with it playing their song "My Lovely Horse"!!! :-D
Back in October 1983 I was 14 years old, had my trusty VL-1, & started watching a TV series called The Prisoner for the 1st time. I’ve just finished watching this series again (I’ve seen it many times), and I also introduced it to my other half who has never seen it before. We both thought it was absolutely brilliant, and I have to share with everyone how far ahead of its time, & how prophetic it was. It gets better with age too, even the final somewhat controversial episode. Everyone should watch it, & own a VL-1!

I'm currently working on a new video featuring the legendary 1981 VL-1's ADSR synthesizer. Until I get it finished, I have to share some vintage Casio love via this brilliant video called "Casiopeia" by Jimmy Davis! Synth Snobbery is alive & well going by a recent post in a Synth Facebook Group I belong to. A chap bought a Casio XW-P1, asked if anyone had made good patches with it, & you get the usual synth snobs mocking it. No doubt they've never even touched one....
Apologies for the sound of tumbleweed coming from CCT! Despite the lack of videos & posts, I’ve been kept very busy. Carried out some major computer upgrades to my main PC, had two sets of house guests come and stay, went away for a week, had to replace/ re-plumb our pool pump & also had to deal with pressing overseas family matters. I’m currently editing the final Crazy Casio Calculator video and hope to be back up to speed again very soon!
