A little bit about me.

Today's biography is on our lead guitarist, RJ, written by Chase.

Name: R.j. Stafford
Instrument: Guitar
Favorite Food: Buffalo Chicken Pizza
Bio:
Consistently combining catchy, clean melodies with fist-pumping, core-driven riffs, RJ creates a sound and tone of his own. Starting to play guitar around the early age of eight, he would eventually start recording music on his computer at home. As time passed by, he developed an ambition to one day live his dream of being in a band. By his mid teens, he began to familiarize himself with heavier music. Soon enough, RJ and his friend Dylan went on to form a two-piece, metalcore outfit named Today We Die, Tomorrow We Rise. Despite gaining a small but decent following, releasing a self-titled EP on ReverbNation, and playing a hand-full of shows in their Community church, the two would eventually decide to disband and go their separate ways. As a result, RJ decided to return to recording solo music on his computer. He was still envisioning his passion to pursue his career in music. With the hopes of joining something greater that would take him to hire places, he contacted Chase Vickers in March of 2015. A couple of nights after the two had spoken in regards to auditioning for Chase's band, rJ's first audition with A Sense Of Discovery took place. With a calm, positive attitude and a willing to Play songs that are popular in the metalcore genre, and even going as far as learning originals that the band had already written, RJ would go on to become ASOD's permanent lead guitarist. Taking his main influences Adaliah, August Burns Red, The Devil Wears Prada, and Of Mice & Men, RJ plays a big role in the band's current sound, and strives to go to the next level with every song.

As we said yesterday, we have decided to do some in-depth background information on each member of the band. Our first installment is about our drummer, written by our vocalist Brian.

Chase is the drummer for A Sense Of Discovery: a heavy-hitting breakdown style with fast progressions. He pushes the limit of what can be done on a drum set. Playing since he was two years old, Chase has dedicated his life to percussion. This is not your average drummer. Born three months premature caused by a disease known as Retinopathy Of Prematurity (ROP), which caused complete blindness in both eyes, and hospitalized for 99 days in ICU, a born fighter and a determination to push on has made chase develop into one of the most talented drummers in the southwest of Florida. With influences stretching from Slayer, Lamb Of God, Ice Nine Kills, and Whitechapel, Chase is one hell of a musician and an inspiration to us all.
