Tune in today to learn more about the migration to space!
Join Professor Frank White on Monday, January 22 2024 discussing the "The Urgency of Large-Scale Space Migration (LSSM).”
It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to let us know that Spaceship Earth is in deep trouble. Humanity is operating as if we did not live on a finite planet with limited resources and a fragile ecosystem. Beyond our blindness to the interconnected nature of everything on Earth, we are using our intelligence to create weapons with which to kill other crew members of our spaceship! It’s all because of our obsession with borders and boundaries that the experience of the Overview Effect reveals to be an illusion.
We must urgently provide as many people as possible with the transformational impact of the Overview Effect so that they will wake up from their dream about reality and see for themselves what is actually real. Then, we must begin to create the infrastructure for Large-Scale Space Migration (LSSM), so that as many people and as much industry as possible can move off of the Earth and give the planet a chance to recover from our destructive behavior. For this enormous “central project,” we do need rocket scientists!
This virtual event is hosted by Space Renaissance International.
Time: 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm UTC+0.

MEET YOUR PROFESSOR: Pascal Lee
Prof. Dr. Pascal Lee is a planetary scientist with the Mars Institute, the SETI Institute, & NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View, California. Dr. Lee studied physics and geology at the University of Paris, and obtained his PhD in astronomy and space sciences at Cornell University where he was Carl Sagan’s last T.A. (Teaching Assistant).
Dr. Lee’s research focuses on the Moon and Mars. He is internationally known for his work on the history of water on Mars – in particular for proposing the “Mars Always Cold” model of Mars climate evolution the study of ice and caves on the Moon, origin of Mars’ moons, and planning the future human exploration of the Moon and Mars. Dr Lee has worked on several advancements in strategies and technologies for future Moon and Mars exploration, including habitats, rovers, aircraft, hoppers, drills, and spacesuits. Dr. Lee has led over 30 expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctica to study the Moon and Mars by comparison with the Earth.
Dr Lee also does research on SETI and on interstellar travel. He was first to suggest, based on his reanalysis of the Drake Equation, that the number N of advanced civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy is likely very small, possibly N~1. The result would resolve the Fermi Paradox and place greater chances of finding extraterrestrial civilizations outside our galaxy than within. Dr Lee has also been advocating the use of torpor, a form of hibernation practiced in the Arctic, as a possible means of distant interplanetary and interstellar survival and travel. Dr Lee is a recipient of the US Antarctic Service Medal, of several NASA group achievement awards, of the NSS Space Pioneer Award for science and engineering, and of the Sagan Prize for the popularization of science. Dr Lee’s first book, Mission: Mars, won the 2015 Prize for Excellence in children’s science books from the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
