SECOND COMPANY GOVERNOR'S FOOT GUARD
This is a support page for The Second Company Governor's Foot Guard. We are part of the Connecticut Organized Militia (CGS 27-6a). Second Company is a subordinate unit of the Connecticut Military Department under the command & control of the Connecticut Adjutant General and authority of the Governor. 2nd Company was founded in Colonial New Haven, it remains one of the oldest military organizations in existence. The Second Company Governor's Foot Guard has been in continuous, uninterrupted military service since it was chartered in March 2, 1775 by the General Assembly of the then Colony of Connecticut. . We are an all volunteer unit. Memberships are open to Connecticut citizens who are not exempt from military duty per federal or state law. The Second Company,Governor's Foot Guard Association, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All contributions are tax deductible to the extent provided by law. To join the Second Company, you must be between the ages of 18 and 55, be able to pass a physical and a background check, and be available for drills and parades. The unit drills every Monday evening from 7:30 until 9 PM at the Branford Armory, in Branford, CT. You must be able to maintain a 50% attendance.
