Requests Open for Everyone (Limited Time) — Hunter Tester Music Post by Hunter Tester Music

I have received this request multiple times to tab this one out. It is based on the version by AB Junior on YouTube. So be sure to check out his video.

The tab involves an alternate tuning, but that is all laid out clearly for you to understand.

📦In this tab package I’m including the pdf of the tab and also 2 audio files of me playing the tab slowly/faster. I think this will help you learn the tab.

One of my top licks to play on the banjo!

Here’s a lick I love to use which happens between the 5th and 7th fret. I use it in Grandfather’s Clock.

🪕Backup Banjo Overview in Under a Minute🪕

Here are some things to remember when learning backup on the banjo. One important thing to keep in mind are the movable chord shapes. There are three main chord shapes that can be moved up and down the neck to form other chords:

• F Shape
• D Shape
• Barre

Of course, backup can be way more complex. But there’s something to get you started!

Learn this simple “boogie woogie,” on the banjo.

It’s a simple little song to learn where you basically just use various notes in the scale going higher and lower.

💬Try it out and let me know what you think!

🪕🎼🪕Still a few spots open for committed banjo students. Message me for more details about lessons! 📨

I’ve learned many different lessons since starting to teach. One of which is that all students are different and go at their own pace. I’ve had some that can go through two songs a week. However, I’ve also had students where it takes them multiple weeks to learn one song.

Both types of students are equally important. Even if you are making small gains, you are still progressing. So be encouraged no matter where you are on the scale!

🪕I've had some openings recently and wanted to remind everyone that I do teach online lessons through Zoom. If you've been wanting to get started, you can find some FAQ below to find out more info.

Q: Which instruments do you teach?
A: I offer lessons for banjo and also guitar as well.

Q: Are the lessons in person or online?
A: All of my lessons are online, and they are conducted over Zoom video chat.

Q: Which styles do you teach on the banjo?
A: I teach the Scruggs method.

Q: How much does each lesson cost?
A: Each 1 hour lesson is $25 USD and can be paid through Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal.

Q: Can I learn my favorite songs?
A: I teach typical bluegrass songs on the banjo, but I also allow the student to decide on songs they want to learn. So we might end up branching off to several different genres and that's okay. I have taught songs by Caamp, Tyler Childers, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, and others. So yeah, there are a lot of possibilities.

Do you have a question that wasn't answered above? Reach out to me below or in a private message! ✉️📬🪕

Just picking a tune for you. It’s one of the many I’ve forgotten the name of or mixed it up with others. So if you know that tune, tell me in the comments! Lol

As you can tell, this was filmed before Christmas. 😅I’ve recently been focused on creating tabs for orders and creating material for my students. So I may not be putting out as much content.

If my tips or videos have been helpful, let me know…because that sort of gives me an idea if I should keep making more. It also encourages me when I see that.

Banjo Tip: How to Improve the Speed of Your Rolls

Sometimes you may hear a roll and it sound overwhelming just because it’s played at a crazy fast tempo. When you slow it down, you realize it’s not quite as difficult as you originally thought.

I suggest practicing each roll super slowly, and then work your way up to faster speeds as you improve. Try this out when you practice!!

Banjo Tip of the Day: Separate and Concentrate

If you’re struggling with a small section of a song, don’t be afraid to practice that small part over and over again. Then once you get to where you can play that part well, insert it back into the full song.

I hope this helps you!

Banjo Tip: Speed Isn’t Everything 🪕

I’ve seen this mistake repeated through multiple students. I get it, you want to play like Earl Scruggs right away. However, it’s more important that you play everything at the same tempo, instead of constantly speeding up and slowing down. So keep this in mind as you learn!

How to Play a Pinch on the Banjo 🪕 - Beginner Banjo Tips

It may seem super simple to some, but playing a pinch is something you need to know on the banjo. The most common type is a pinch between the first and fifth string. However, occasionally you will pinch different sets of strings together.

You can use a pinch in Cripple Creek and also in order to kick off a song.
