Almost 1 month until time!!!
Today would have been my grandmothers birthday.
A true artist of her time… painting colors in oils over black and white photographs to bring them to life.
I decided to commemorate her technique with my own rendition of a restoration job. This high school senior photo, taken 50+ years ago, was damaged over the years- and the family wanted a fresh portrait from the original photograph.
I can recall being a young girl- watching my grandmother paint - in her aerated painting space in the basement of their photography studio. 
To learn more from her would be a dream come true.

Plein Air At The Fair
Along with 20+ other painters- we braved the monsoon storms on Monday and the blazing heat and sun on Tuesday.
I was able to accomplish three paintings allotted for the event.
Two on Monday, and one for the 2.5 hour quick paint.
The two paintings from monday( on plaques) are complete as is. And one sold already!
The third was a little tougher, but as complete as possible during the allotted time frame.
Of course, there are elements that I was not able to complete.
All 60+ paintings are for sale at the Expo Building. You can find them in the main hallway that wraps along the outer wall of the building.
While you’re there- come visit us at our booth!

Starting in 2 days- and I can hardly wait!
This year they are hosting a ‘Plein Air at the Fair’ event- and you best Believe that I entered!
On Monday, August 9th, I will take a break from my main booth in the exhibit hall Jonathans Portraits to paint from 10am-10pm.

I can NOT Believe a full year has gone by since this custom boat design was created and applied to their gorgeous new boat.
It was a fun collaboration between the boat owners, myself and my graphic design pal to make it all happen.
