Today at the Great Minnesota Get Together, the Explorers will be participating in Governor’s Fire Prevention Day with the Rosemount Fire Explorers to demonstrate how Law Enforcement and Fire work together on the scene of a serious car accident. If you are at the Fair stop by under the Grandstand Bridge at noon or 3 to watch our Demonstrations!!!

In 2012 The Explorer Post was lucky enough to start a partnership with the Chester Bird American Legion Post #523 for their monthly Steak Dinner. This partnership allowed our Explorers to learn about service, hard work and commitment. Tonight we were honored and privileged to receive a donation from the Legion for $10,000!!!! This is the single biggest donation we have ever received and will continue to allow the Explorers to grow and prosper in everything that we do.

Today we got to say farewell to an Advisor and Mentor. Deputy Megan Thompson has been an Advisor for the Post for the last several years. Deputy Thompson will be leaving us to pursue a new opportunity with the Minnesota State Patrol.

Explorers had a great time meeting folks from the community today at the HCSO Open House. One of the Explorers also got a taste of what our volunteer Special Deputies get to do - breaking glass right before doing an extrication. Thank you to everyone who came to the event - we had a great time!!

On Friday, the Hennepin County Sheriff Foundation accepted a donation from the Golden Valley Chester Bird American Legion on behalf of the HCSO Explorers. We would like to thank the Legion again for your generosity and continued support of our youth and future community leaders. Donations like this assist in offsetting costs for equipment and conference fees that may otherwise be an out-of-pocket expense. With these funds, Explorers are able to attend training without worrying about financial restraints and can concentrate on learning.
We would also like to thank the Hennepin County Special Deputies who come to the steak dinners each month to support us and our Advisors.
Thank you again to the American Legion. We look forward to continuing to serve our community and developing our group to become great leaders!
We are putting on a demonstration tomorrow, Tuesday December 13, from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The Explorers will show their improvement in traffic stops from the beginning of the year. Please stop by to see their progress.
