Brooklyn Lycans Cricket Club (formerly known as Lycans CC) was established in 2009 with a mission. A mission to enjoy the beautiful sport of cricket with a collaboration of family and friends, and to represent the united Bangladeshi youth community of Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn Lycans Cricket Club's mission is to demonstrate unwavering commitment thru hard work and dedication, and to inject lead

ership, sportsmanship, and discipline into our youth, who carry the aspiration of delivering these attributes back to the community as a whole, and with the collective efforts of whom, Lycans aim to reach for success in cricket. Started by playing random tournaments of tape-ball cricket on the local streets and parks of Brooklyn, the idea of producing a well-organized team to play conventional cricket in renowned cricket leagues around the city was originated by a small group of friends who were also high school students. In a local basement - Lycans' hub for many years, the idea was then set forward in the fall of 2008 through collective efforts from the founding members, fortified by the additions of numerous youth who had a shared purpose, vision, focus and direction. Lycans, however, had to wait until the prestigious NYPD summer tournament of 2009 to make their first appearance in the field as a well established team. It was a dream start for them as they went on to lift the 2009 NYPD Championship Trophy with a young striving force and marked their entry among some of the notable youth teams in the city. It was only the beginning for the pack of hungry Lycans who were looking for further opportunities to taste more success. As a result, they participated in the then biggest and most renowned Bangladeshi cricket league, BCANA in 2010. Motivated by the success a year earlier, and through sincere friendship and teamwork, a young Lycans proved to belong among the best yet again, as they emerged victorious in the 2010 BCANA First Division Championship. As a privilege, Lycans continues to take part in the NYPD Cricket Tournament, and in the Premier Divison of the Bangladeshi Cricket League as a mighty force today, following the footsteps of another local role model, Orbit Cricket Team. Unity and local strength have always been the major keys to Lycans Cricket Club's success over the past years; some aspects which they cherish and value above all since the club's establishment in 2009. Such qualities helped all the members of the team to stick together for years, the result of which lies not only in playing cricket, but also in staying loyal to their personal and social identity and beyond. While building Lycans from scratch, the team did not want to assemble superstars. Rather, they wanted, and they yielded a bunch of great young local blokes who would commit to the team's mission while revealing their true passion for the game. In the process, they have developed themselves into matured leaders both inside and outside of the team, and now they carry the ability to guide or direct fellow team members, friends and families on a right course of action, whether it is cricket-related matters or matters that are associated with career and social life.

An unfortunate end to our T30 campaign as we fell short in the big game. All the boys have done themselves proud by pulling off some gripping contests over the weeks and making it this far. We keep striving to do better and come back stronger In Sha Allah !

Warmest congratulations to The Warriors for winning the all important title this year, as we were throughly outplayed on the day by some of their brilliant display of cricket all around.

Towering Tareq has come to the fore when the team needed him to deliver in a crucial Semi-Final against the buoyant Piranha Sporting Club. He striked at 162 to get to a brilliant hundred, and his 156 runs second-wicket partnership with ABD laid the platform for a strong finish in the first innings. He then chipped in with the ball in hand to get Lycans over the line to play another Final.

Superb Sami displayed his all round A-game this weekend. He stayed on until the very end with a fighting 42(46) while wickets fell regularly. Bowling brilliantly in tandem with his mates, he made sure the Gladiators innings was kept in check, and that the runs on the board were enough to restrict them well in a low scoring thriller.

The Brooklyn Lycans started off the BCANA 2023 season by bringing a trophy home in the shortest format, Alhamdulillah. With sheer aggression and belief, the young bunch played brilliantly in both games to get over the line.
