Yesterday, we spent the day with Buckeye Union High School’s TSW program for their Career Day. We love this program and the learning and work opportunities it offers to students with disabilities. All are encouraged to check out and learn more about their program and how you can support their efforts!

Happy National Coffee Day, y’all! Fun fact: in this photo is the message Chu wrote a couple of months ago to share with others that we would be crowdfunding. It’s also included at the end our Kickstarter video along with him reading it. I always love when he’s worked on something for the coffeehouse and he shares it 😊

At less than 1%, we obviously have a long way to go 😅
With the way Kickstarter works, we have to have enough pledges that total out to our goal. If we don’t reach that goal by October 7th, those that have pledged, keep their money, and we unfortunately are where we were when we started. We’re prepared to go back to the drawing board and revisit our business plan if this doesn’t work out. We’ve talked to too many that our looking forward to the opportunities that Chu’s Brew Coffeehouse will bring.

We’re still hopeful and still praying that we meet this goal! For those that have pledged so far, THANK YOU. Even if we don’t meet the goal, your willingness to support us and our mission in such a big way does not go without appreciation 💕

We would like to share some enhancements made to our current pledging tiers as well as some exciting new opportunities to win some of our big rewards. Perhaps the most exciting enhancement is the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Cards that some of our tiers have. What's even more exciting is that our early bird pledgers have the chance of winning one of these cards. These cards get holders free drink perks!Take a look at the link in our bio for more details.

Finally, we have less than 22 days before we have to meet our funding goal or we get nothing. We have to be funded by October 7th, 8:00 AM MST. We are currently 1% funded. While the campaign ends October 7th, we would love to say we’ve reached our goal by Chu's birthday: September 21st!

It has been a STRUGGLE trying to figure out how to fill our social media with the “perfect” photos and words to convey our plans and what we are on a mission to do. It’s a fine balance trying to be authentic but also be consistent on here. With that being said, we’ve decided the best way to share with others is through our new blog area on our website! Did you know that individuals with a disability are less likely to work and more likely to live in poverty? Only 26.3% of working age individuals in Arizona with a cognitive disability were employed in 2017. In comparison, 72.7% of working age individuals in Arizona WITHOUT a disability were employed in 2017. The employment statistics you typically see—at the surface level—do not tell the same story for those with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities deserve economic self sufficiency.

Fun fact about the man behind the name:
Chuy is a die hard WWE & AEW fan—he’s has been watching professional wrestling since he was 5 years old! You could probably imagine how excited he was 3 years ago today when he got to meet and shake the hands of a few of his favorite wrestlers. Just know, if you ever want to strike up conversation with Chu, ask him about wrestling. MAYBE just avoid bringing it up when you stop in the shop for a quick coffee before heading to work or an appointment 😂

THIS. This has been the story of my life lately 😅
“Figuring it out as you go” is sooooooo not my typical MO but working to open this coffee shop has given me no choice but to do just that. It’s a LOT but gosh, it is one amazing ride to reflect on each month and see God’s faithfulness through it all. If God’s given you something to do, you better get to it!! He will make a way wherever you convinced yourself there wasn’t one. Take it from someone who has let fear talk her out of her purpose for far to long: just go for it!!

Thank you, everyone for the love and support you poured out to us yesterday! Chuy kept talking about his amazement at support from people who’ve yet to meet him!

This photo here is one that was posted on my personal account back on Thanksgiving. It’s so amazing to look back to 6 weeks ago and reflect on what God has led us through since. Exciting conversations were had yesterday. There were friends and family that shared helpful connections. THERE WAS PRAYER! Our day closed with some of our church family praying for us and having this developing coffee shop brought before God. Thank you!

We will try to update regularly but for now, we get back to work 💪
