🔥The first “Cafecito Tempranito con Tayrin” - On the Road edition was a success. The goal is for Latinas Evolving members and Allys to support and promote Latina owned businesses in WNY. 👏🏽Today, we visited Sweet Em’s Cake Boutique located in North Tonawanda, New York. 🎉We learned that Emily came from Puerto Rico five years ago. A year ago, she and her husband began looking for a location to expand her business. She, like many other Latina entrepreneurs, is learning to balance being a wife, mother, and entrepreneur. We were so happy to be able to see her at work; support her business; & give her some words of encouragement, as she has given us much inspiration to continue moving forward in our own journeys. We also had an opportunity to meet her husband and her daughter. Her daughter absolutely understood the assignment and was ready and willing to promote her mama’s business. Her husband is her number one fan and said “she is the most determined individual I have ever met.” 🍾We wish Emily and her company much much success, and we look forward to working closely with her. #latinaentrepreneur #levelup #LatinasEvolving #EmpoweredLatinas #jointhemovement #latinaprofessionals #latinapreneur #latinabossmoment #latinaownedbusiness

When you’re an entrepreneur, you have to be able to not care what others think. You have to walk confidently with boldness while owning your craft. Como dueños de negocios, no te puede importar los que piensen los demás. Tienes que caminar con confianza y audacia mientras eres dueño de tu oficio. Diana, entrepreneur of a Latina owned business in WNY speaks on being confident and walking in that boldness. Thank you to the Womens Business Center for inviting Evans Bank, Latinas of Power & Influence and the Hispanic Womens League to partner up for yet another phenomenal inclusive networking series event designed to help close the inequality gap that minority and women business owners are faced with. Latinas of Power and Influence is a non for profit (under the Latinas Evolving umbrella) that creates events to spotlight Latinas in different careers. Our goal is to empower them by providing connections and resources necessary to help them continue to evolve and push forward our hispanic community.
Happy Women’s History Month. In celebration of Women’s History month and in honor of the Latinas Talk STEM event coming up, Latinas Evolving & HWL, will be highlighting and celebrating Latinas in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math fields all month. Many of these Latinas are working here in the WNY area. Let’s take a moment to honor, support, and love on them this month. “Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month.” Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.” (https://womenshistorymonth.gov/about/) Pic: panelists from the first Latinas of Power and Influence event in October of 2022 held at Medaille College.
Yahaira Zapata speaks on “It’s okay to be different”. It’s okay to be the first to pave ways. It’s okay to reach for more. It’s okay to WANT to achieve goals. But is she doing to much? NO! It’s okay to be a Latina Educated Boss Lady. She is a Latina of power and influence showing other young Latinas that it’s okay to have goals before getting married. Don’t let society make you think and feel like you have to be a part of a norm that hasn’t always necessarily worked for us Latinas. Yahaira is a relatable face for many Latinas going against the norm. And we are here for it. Audience member asked: What legacy do you want to leave behind? Tayrin talks about making sure our future leaders, I.e. her kids, knowing and understanding that they should ALWAYS be resourceful. You have access to the world at the palm of your hands. At that age in our time, we didn’t have access to that. Before asking a question, see if you can figure it out first. Always know that have you the power to create something great and that you have ACCESS to answers that many do not. Do not be dependent on others to teach you when you have the access to find out for yourself.
