Restoring old houses in Buffalo NY. Sustainable historic tiny-house transformations
This is why we don't use spray foam.
We often get asked why we don't use spray foam in our builds. It's easy, it's fast, it's cheap, it's been the industry standard for the past decade. Since then, preservationists, carpenters, roofers, and mold remediation companies have been witness to the catastrophic damage that spray foam can cause. Europe is already refusing to insure or finance homes with spray foam, and the US market may not be far behind.
At Medusa Development, we use a combination of rock-wool, rigid foam, felt, cork, radiant barriers, and other sustainable materials to achieve our target R-value & maintain necessary ventilation where insulation is in direct contact with wood surfaces.
We can’t sell our house because it has spray-foam insulation Spray foam insulation is a popular way to save on energy bills, but if done badly it can wreck your plans to sell
We’re getting close to finished!

New Andersen windows, clapboard siding, and custom window pediments to match the original design of the home.
Believe it or not, when we began work on this property there was only one window on the first floor front of house, and it was made of plexiglass and hockeysticks!
Front porch and new front doors coming soon
