Throwback to baby Josh in the gym! I’ve been getting some emails and DMs lately from moms with littles who are frustrated by their workouts being interrupted by their kids or babies, and it has been leaving them just tossing out the idea of working out altogether. I understand. Even when (for a very short stint of time) I was using the gym childcare to try to get my workout in- there were many times it turned into this. Now, all my workouts are at home and when I’m in a “little baby” season- there is no huge pocket of time (my kids are historically not good nappers). Even now, my morning workouts are almost always crashed by a kid or two.. So I do get it- and it IS frustrating. But this is where we can’t let perfect be the enemy of good. It makes no sense to say that NO workout is “better” than a five minute workout. That having to stop and help someone get a snack or assist in the bathroom means we should just wait to workout until they grow up. Or, that if we can’t get a perfect, uninterrupted hour at the gym with headphones in- we might as well give up hope of being fit and healthy. Everything is a season and we need to do the best we can with OUR schedules, OUR resources, etc. no comparison- just what we can make happen.
