Art Dialogue Gallery at Five Linwood Avenue is pleased to present an exhibition of new artworks by Western New York Artist Joyce Hill. The exhibition titled: Joyce Hill - “Tell Me What You See”, Collage and Charcoal Interpretations, includes new works executed using collage and liquid charcoal. The exhibit was curated by gallery director, Donald J. Siuta.
The pieces included in this exhibition are inspired by the Swiss psychologist Hermann Rorschach and his “Rorschach test”, which is more commonly known as the “ink blot test”. My inkblots were created using liquid charcoal. I allowed the liquid charcoal to take shape by folding the paper and then added collage papers based on my own interpretation of the shape. The ink blot test examines how you perceive things and how you make the shapes more meaningful to you. These pieces encourage a moment of self-reflection asking the viewer, “Tell me what you see?” Joyce Hill
