NNETESOL is an affiliate of TESOL serving Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
The purpose of NNETESOL is to support ESL professionals in our region through professional development activities. NNETESOL organizes one tristate conference each year to meet the professional development needs of its members. The conferences also provide ESL professionals with the opportunity to network with colleagues and visit with publishers.

The Maine State Office of Adult Education is accepting session proposals for this summer's Supporting Adult Multilingual Learners Summer Institute, July 15 - 17, 2024, at Sugarloaf Mountain Resort, Carrabassett Valley.
The theme, Building Bridges: Supporting Adult Multilingual Learners with their Educational and Career Pathways, focuses on how all adult education professionals can be empowered to support multilingual learners through increasing cultural competence and humility, exploring learner-centered practices, and increasing network connections and resources. Designed for all Maine adult education professionals, the Institute includes a morning application workshop focused on the Institute themes, and afternoon breakout sessions highlighting best practices from Maine adult education programs and community organizations.
We are seeking active and engaging presentations that highlight effective practices around supporting adult multilingual learners in the following areas:
Administering an ESOL Program (i.e., hiring and onboarding teachers, finding funding, selecting curriculum, tools for communication, working with community partners, scheduling, etc.)
Cultural Competence & Literacy (i.e., cross-cultural communication, working with specific populations, legal considerations and definitions, etc.)
Overcoming Barriers (i.e., mental health considerations, communication tools, resource mapping, community resources for barriers, transitions to employment or education, family and community engagement, processes and tools for intake, advising strategies, etc.)
Teaching that Reaches All Learners (i.e., new teacher supports, classroom routines, integrating pronunciation and grammar, curriculum design- scope and sequence, assessment, student-led learning, use of technology (in-person and remote), mobile learning, classroom culture, etc.)
Workforce Development (i.e., strategies for addressing barriers to employment, pre-apprenticeship & apprenticeship, Integrated Education and Training, workforce preparation classes, workplace literacy programming, MJRP career navigator work, contextualizing learning, using EnGen, resources, etc.)
Breakout sessions will be 75-minutes. Presenters will have access to Wi-Fi, a projector, and screen. They will be responsible for providing their own computer and related session materials. Presenters will receive a $200 honorarium for their session. Employees of the State of Maine are not eligible for the honorarium. Selected presenters will be required to complete a short presentation training and will have the opportunity to work with a presentation coach.

Best of EVO for 2024 is a 2-day online event. The event will take place on March 16 and 17, 2024 from 9 AM to 2 PM US EST. Electronic Village Online (EVO) moderators and participants will showcase their five-week long sessions in January and February. These sessions have explored weekly topics on integrating technology into teaching and learning through online discussions and collaborative projects within a free learning management system (LMS).

The MinneTESOL Journal is inviting submissions for the next issue (Volume 40, Issue 1) coming out this spring. Priority will be given to manuscripts received by February 15, 2024.
MinneTESOL is one of the largest state affiliates of TESOL International Association. The journal is open-access with a wide readership and contributions from around the world. Manuscripts should be between 1,500-2,500 words, including references.
