BCA Artist Studio Tour: Karen Cygnarowicz
Grab your favorite cozy blanket and settle in for the latest installment of our Artist Studio Tour series featuring fiber artist Karen Cygnarowicz. Exploring process and reclaimed materials in her fiber sculptures Cygnarowicz uses techniques such as “macro-weaving” (the process of combining macramé with basic elements of weaving), to reflect and react to daily experiences through material form. While touring her Montpelier studio, Cygnarowicz discusses the importance of mediation in her practice and the impact of ordinary, everyday events on the formation of her work. Creating tactile compositions defined by fields of bright color and dynamic manipulations of fiber, Cygnarowicz’s sculptures are on view now at the BCA Center in, "Texture & Response." The 2023 Festival of Fools Returns to Burlington, Vermont 8/4-8/6
Springtime in VT can feel like one long April Fool's joke, but with the official announcement of the 2023 Festival of Fools, 8/4-8/6, you know summer really is coming! And no other summer event brings together locals, tourists, families, and revelers quite like the Festival of Fools. With a lineup of musicians and buskers from around the globe, it’s no surprise that we here at Fools HQ hear regularly from folks who plan their summer vacations around it. And while the lineup is still under wraps, a few fools have leaked some details, and we’re thrilled to pass along this top-secret intel.
Continuing our recent tradition of bringing international music phenoms to BTV, we’ll be kicking off the weekend with a bang when Colombian beats trailblazer Lido Pimienta brings her ecstatic blend of electronic and cumbia to the Festival of Fools Twilight Series concert on Friday, 8/4.
An Australian-born gymnast with a resume that includes Cirque du Soleil, Reuben DotDotDot will be defying physiology, gravity, and common sense with his gasp-inducing street shows all weekend long.
And back after a snoutrageously successful debut last year, Mutts Gone Nuts is off the leash yet again with three days of adorable antics in City Hall Bark.
So when the charms of mud season begin to wear thin, just keep your eyes on all of the community warmth and foolery to come and head to vtfools.org for all the latest.
