Every worker deserves to make it home safe-every day. National Safety Council
We all need to be prepared for emergencies at work, from the co-worker getting injured to a natural disaster.
Do you know where the first aid kit is located? The fire extinguisher? Gas shut off? Electrical shut off?
Where do you go for a tornado?
We all practiced safety drills in school and we should practice them at home with our kids. Do we practice any drills at our workplace?
Create an emergency plan at work so when an emergency happens you are ready.

June is National Safety Month and each week I am sharing a few summer safety tips.
Today is First Aid tips. Have you taken a first aid or CPR course? If you haven't they are good investments for your time. You never know when someone might need this from you.
Red Cross is the first thing I think of when I think of first aid. They are the first to offer aid in an emergency situation and they also teach first aid training. The American Red Cross has a long list of first aid classes they offer to help us be better prepared for an emergency. The three P’s of First Aid are
1. Preserve life
2. Prevent further injury
3. Promote recovery
A first aid course will teach many things about how to handle an emergency, how to build a first aid kit and basic first aid techniques.
The first 5 steps to first aid are:
1. Recognize the emergency.
2. Call 911 if it is needed.
3. Ask questions in case the situation escalates to unconsciousness.
4. Be kind and stay calm.
5. Be a steward for the person.
