Submissions for The People's Show are now closed for the October-December shows. We received 98 submissions for 50 open spots, so please do not be discouraged if you don't get selected this time around. We wish we could have everyone on. There will still be three open spots every week in November and December that are going to be booked through our Resident Hosts for those months (those names TBD), as well as the occasional drop-in spot. Thanks again! It's gonna be a great end of the year!

Announcement Time!!

I want to start by saying thanks to everyone who submitted through our comic form to be on a People's Show in the next 3 months. This was a big undertaking, and I'm so glad so many of you wanted to be a part of the show.

Emails have gone out for bookings from the form for the next 12 weeks. Please check to see if you have received a date, and respond as soon as you can. We had 88 people fill out the form for 48 spots, so unfortunately we could not book everyone this time around. If you haven't received an email yet, don't fret because we may reach out to you as an alternate. Also, there are two other ways to get spots on the shows: 1) Reach out to the Resident Hosts, who will have 3 spots per show to give out, and 2) Come see a show and see if you can get the Drop In spot (1 per show).

That brings me to our Resident Hosts! We are so excited to have Trent Wells, Nate Davis, and Liz Estey as our three resident hosts this block. Here are the dates they're covering:

- Trent: July 14, 21, 28, August 4th.
- Nate: August 11, 18, 25, September 1st.
- Liz: September 8, 15, 22, 29th.

We encourage you to reach out to the hosts for a spot, especially if you haven't been given one yet, but of course, be respectful and patient.

Trent's first show is THIS SUNDAY and we have an amazing lineup. I'm really proud of the new system we've created for booking and again, thank you all so much for participating. The response has been overwhelming.

Hey y'all!

In an effort to make booking and hosting the People's Show fairer and more transparent, the producing team (David Thomas, Srilatha Rajamani and Dylan Uscher) have put together a brand new process for comedians wishing to get stage time at our weekly Sunday night show. Here's how it works:

Every three months, we will put out a call for submissions. Submissions will be open to comedians of all levels for two weeks. Depending on how many comics submit, we will try to give everyone at least 1 spot in the three month block. If we don't get a ton of submissions, you may get 2 spots. If we get too many, we may have to bump you to the next block, but don't worry, you will receive priority for the next block of shows!

There will still be a monthly Resident Host as we've done in the past, but we wanted to be a bit more intentional about it and make it a more valuable learning experience for the residents than in the past. You will be working closely with the People's Show producers to learn how to best put a lineup together, how to promote a show, and hosting techniques. Unlike before, you will not be responsible for every aspect of the show, without any resources. We do, however, expect you to be an active participant in the planning, booking, promotion, and of course, hosting, of your four shows. If you have at least 1 year of experience performing standup, and are interested in/able to host the show 4 weeks in a row, please contact us here or at peoplesshow[at]improvboston[dot]com for more information.

There are 8 spots on each People's Show night. Here is how they will be filled:
4 booked ahead by People's Show producers using the Call for Performers form.
3 booked by the Resident Host.
1 booked for out-of-town performers or drop-ins the day of the show.

The first 12-week block of shows using this format will start on July 15th. Please send us your avails using the Google form here: https://forms.gle/yceYCU6qsydMhjp3A. Submissions will be open until Friday, July 5th. We will send out emails to everyone about which dates they've been selected for by the end of day July 10th.

While the new process is a little more formal than just tracking down the monthly host and asking for a spot, we hope that this will make things easier for comics who may not know the hosts, or may not be as quick to jump on some things on social media. Our goals are to be fair, run great, successful shows, and provide Boston's comics with an awesome platform to perform and grow as a comedians.
