Today and everyday we remember those who were lost on September 11, 2001. On that day thousands of lives were lost and countless other were changed forever. There is a memorial stone dedicated to these individuals outside of our station to serve as a reminder and each year we pause to remember.

Our members' July 4th was a memorable one as the Cambridge Police Patrol Officers Association hosted a barbecue outside the Cambridge Police Station for approximately 250 Officers and Professional Staff working on Independence Day. July 4th a mandatory work day for the vast majority of the department due to the influx of people who come to the city to attend fireworks along the Charles River.

Our team had the grill going for 10 hours: providing summer cookout-style food service to three shifts of officers. All food items and related expenses were paid for by the CPPOA. The grill was staffed by Officers Borum, Bustillo, Colbert and Reardon - all members of the CPPOA Executive Board. In addition Association President Sullivan assisted with the set-up and Officer Ayoub assisted with the cleanup.

The CPPOA is proud of our members who are dedicated to the development of our next generation of law enforcement professionals. Great job Staff!

In addition to our new officers who graduated, we want to send a big congratulations to the Cambridge-Northeastern Police Academy Staff for training a sixth class. The CPD And NU partnership helps recruits learn that policing is a “people business” and that their success as officers depends on their ability to listen to and talk with their community members. Thank you for your commitment to the future! Cambridge Police Patrol Officers Association

Today 11 CPD Officers from the Patrol Division volunteered their time to take part in the 2024 Special Olympics Cruiser Convoy. The convoy is a parade of Officers and cruisers from across Massachusetts which ends at Harvard Stadium during the Special Olympic Games. Following the convoy Officers got to meet athletes from Cambridge and other nearby communities before cheering them on in their events.

2024 is Cambridge's 3rd consecutive year taking part in the Cruiser Convoy and with 5 vehicles it is the largest turnout yet. Cambridge's participation is a collaborative effort between the leadership of the Police Department and the Cambridge Police Patrol Officers Association (CPPOA).

Calling 911 in Cambridge? Soon, the city may send social workers instead of police. - The Boston Globe The effort's anticipated launch has raised thorny questions about when people in crisis actually need the police, and when a behavioral health team can show up instead.
