Marcus for School Board

This is it. Election Day is here. Over the past few weeks I’ve knocked on hundreds of doors and had countless conversations across Camden. What’s clear is that people love our schools.

I’m the only candidate running with more than a decade of public education experience. I have the commitment and leadership skills for the job. And I have the support of educators and my fellow Board members. So many people told me a “teacher told me to vote for you” or “a principal told me to vote for you.”

Public school made me, and I’ve dedicated my career to making sure all kids have the strong public schools they need to thrive. All kids.

Others in this race think our teachers and our schools need more accountability and transparency. I disagree. At a time when public education is so strained and under attack, our educators need us to be partners and advocates for what our schools need. I will never falter in this responsibility. It doesn’t mean a rubber stamp, but it means respect and a partnership.

I’ve been a committed Board member who shows up for our schools. I hope I’ve earned your support for re-election!

Public schools are centers of community and public education is the best vehicle we have in our democracy to help kids achieve their dreams. I’ve lived that. It’s no exaggeration to say that my public schools made me — they were the safe places full of supportive adults I needed, along with equipping me with the skills and knowledge I needed to thrive. I’ve dedicated my career to making sure that all students have those same strong public schools to support, nurture, educate, and prepare them for success.

If you want someone who comes prepared and is focused on results, I’m your guy.

If you want someone who is a collaborative leader who cares about all kids, I’m your guy.

I’m running for school board because I believe strongly in the power and promise of our public schools.

As a school board member, I’ll always be focused on ensuring we meet the instructional and health needs of our students, respecting and valuing the voice and experience of teachers and school staff, making sure we deliver the education parents want for their children, and being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.
