2024 VaultWorX picnic/senior send-off. We dodged some rain showers, but there was food, music, games, pole vaulting and somehow we got it all in. Great times!

The coaching line up for camp is getting hot! We are pumped to be bringing back home to spend the week at camp with us. Joe made a huge impact on the high school scene, and in just a few short years has become one of the top collegiate coaches in the country. He also has a dog nicknamed “little dog”, and just by coincidence the Coach Matt had a dog a few years earlier also named “little dog”…but just a coincidence. Here is just a little blip into what Joe has been up to…

Lily Carlson 13’5” - 2024 New Balance National Champion

Vert 16’8.75” 2024 New Balance National Champ!

Rising tides raises all ships…..an incredible day at New Balance Nationals for our crew as Lily Carlson wins with 13’5” PR and Mason Bucks wins with 16’8.’75” PRx2! Both were meet records with only 1 miss between the two of them. VaultWorX is a team of awesome coaches working at a shared goal of teaching a defined and evolving technical model to every kid in the program. Super proud of these incredible athletes and coaches!

One of the best moments of the year happened on the infield of the PA State Meet. Mackenzie Horn was inducted into the PA Hall of Fame. Mackenzie was an incredible athlete who set the AAA State meet record. At the time 13’ jumps were super rare and she left a string of records with her best bar being 13’7” in high school. She was a multi year All American placing as high as 3rd, back when there was only one national meet. It was a huge honor to coach her and just as big a deal to get to present this award. Congrats Mackenzie!

Let’s talk about the parents! Rachel Cote Rogers Scott Rogers yesterday was such a unique experience as Justin’s dad relayed perfect videos to me almost instantly to be able to coach from across the country. We had a 3 way text going…with Justin’s mom in on the chat from PA as well. They got to hear and see my thoughts as I was biting my nails moving up poles….I explained to them that I was being very aggressive in this was not a meet to be passive. And the instant response was….”we trust you Matt”. And my response was…”always!”. But the untold story is that these are the same parents who drove to Freshman Nationals to watch their son no-height. The same parents who drove to indoor nationals a few years ago to only clear 1 bar when his teammates were all having the days of their lives. These are the same parents who have supported me to challenge Justin with sometimes very tough love, and sarcasm, and anything I could come up with to challenge their son to be the best he could be. I remember like it was yesterday sitting with them at Adidas Nationals…and just like me as a parent when my kids are hurting…I could feel and share the hurt…I told them that we would come out of this better and and be better prepared next time…and they said…”we trust you”. The same parents that encouraged their son to come talk to me directly when times were tough and a path forward was tough to see. I am humbled by their trust and can only hope to do as well with my own kids. Thank you Rachel and Scott for your steady trust, support, and confidence! Job well done!
