Fran’s Summer Re-cap:
I’d like to share with you what I’ve been up to this past summer!
Jerry and I spent time in Cape Vincent remodeling, boating and connecting with our summer friends. It was a relaxing time spent enjoying the view from our porch while watching the large ships pass by on the St. Lawrence river. We took a day trip to Tibbetts Point Lighthouse to see where Lake Ontario empties into the St. Lawrence seaway.
Our cousin Jay and his wife Patty from Minnesota visited us for a week. One of the highlights was venturing to Heart Island in the St. Lawrence river and touring Boldt Castle. Boldt Castle is a historic landmark built by American millionaire George Boldt in 1900. It felt like stepping back in time because the ongoing restoration of the castle and gardens are true to the era of the turn of the previous century.
Another highlight of the summer was spending time with our children and grand-children. We enjoyed our days fishing, swimming & kayaking, and our evenings watching the beautiful sunsets.
This past summer season at the Windmill Farm & Craft Market brought a record number of people including many repeat customers. I worked overtime creating summer items to keep up with the demand, all while getting prepared for this fall season. I am heading up the Fall decorating committee at The Windmill along with many creative volunteers to showcase the bounty of the Finger Lakes Region.
Our fall products are all about warmth, calmness & coziness! I’ve chosen products and new fabrics perfect for yourself and for gifts. We have products for all ages, including soft flannel covered boo boo pillows and a variety of playful fabrics for children’s comfort that can be used chilled or warmed. Along with our most loved products of neck, square, rectangle and eye flaxseed pillows, we also have many feet & wrist warmers. These items have become very popular! One of the best for the season will be my handcrafted warming mittens made from recycled wool sweaters with microwavable flaxseed pillow inserts. There is a wide variety for the uses of these mittens. They are perfect for outdoor winter sports, treatment of arthritis or Raynaud syndrome, or a thoughtful & unique gift!
