You’ve heard the phrase, “a New Year, a New you,” but Scripture says something better. It says if we are IN Christ, we are a NEW creation.

What’s this mean? It means the grace of God not only justifies us, but it changes our manner of living. Our thoughts shift from living for ourselves to living for Him. Our perspective changes from hopeless earthly outcomes to the Sovereign eternal purposes of God.

We can’t be the same where the grace of God has washed over us. Yes we still sin and struggle, but now we are armed and covered in grace and mercy. The blood of Jesus paid it all and all to Him we owe.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5:17‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

As my first year of draws to a close, I have to say thank you. Thank you for trusting me to create so many (70+) unique gifts for your people. I have loved the challenge of connecting their story with a thoughtful design! 😍

We have made gifts for so many different occasions —celebrations of marriage, graduations, memories of loved ones, or simple banner words to claim over a current season of life. Connecting the truth of Scripture with each gift has given me great joy. 🤩

🙏🏻 I pray that the things we create in 2022 would point people to the person of Jesus and the Word of God. That we would partner together for the sake of the Gospel and champion our friends to live their lives with eternal perspectives and purposes. 🌅

For His Splendor.

Some seasons of life are easier to find beauty in, while others feel heavy and hard. However, because of Christ, we can trade those ashes for beauty. We can put on praise instead of despair. Why? Because we have been created for purposes bigger than ourselves. We exist to give God glory.

A tree is a great picture of growth and strength in Scripture. He’s planted us in these seasons and He will bring us through it. We don’t make Him more glorious. He already IS glorious. We just get to display Him to a lost world.

“And provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.”

Welcome one another”

Do you have a welcome mat at your door? It might be more than just a place to shake off the dust from your feet. Perhaps it’s an invitation that could remind us of a charge in scripture.

Paul puts a premium on building up others in the faith. He wants the Church to live in such a way that Christ is glorified by how we welcome and treat each other. We see this modeled in the humility of Christ as He came to serve rather than be served. He welcomed the little children. He welcomed the repentant thief and the woman at the well. He welcomed YOU. Jesus knew this would glorify His Father and relay the gospel to a watching world. He invites us to do the same.

So, the next time you see a welcome mat, remember how Jesus welcomed you and let it model your welcome to another.

“May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.”

^ God is faithful ^
Think about this…God is faithful to show himself faithful to the faithful! It’s true! He keeps His promises.

💌All throughout scripture, He invites us to trust Him. When we follow His path and trust in Him for the strength to persevere, He sees and responds out of His covenant love. It’s not that we earn His approval or manipulate His actions…He’s wiser than that. But, it’s in our obedience that He wants to show us His faithfulness.

🎶As David sings this Psalm to the Lord after delivering him from his enemies, I believe we can echo this song of praise right back up to Him.

“To the faithful you show yourself faithful…”

In this verse, Paul is overflowing with gratitude because of the good report Timothy has brought back to him. The Thessalonian believers were persevering in faith and love in a time of hardship which greatly encouraged Paul. So much so, that it affected his prayer life!

Isn’t it powerful to think that our walk can not only bring glory to God but also encourage the hearts of His people to respond in prayers of thankfulness?

I want to be bring gratitude to others by how my faith shows up in action and I trust that you would too! Let’s be children of God that love Him and others so well that it results in thankful prayers to heaven!

With the ending of one chapter, comes the beginning of another. Anticipation of the unknown is real and our human frailty reveals our questions. Too often, we want to know more than what is revealed. “How will God provide?” “What will happen?” “Will I make it through?”

However, as a child of God, there is a declaration and promise over our lives. And it’s a BIG one. We are NOT alone. He reminds us that He is WITH us. The lack of strength we feel invites us to depend upon His. He doesn’t leave us or forsake us. Instead, He REACHES His right hand down to us and boldly whispers,

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

🍃 The Goodness of God

♥️ Isn’t young love beautiful? When two people come together because of the faithfulness of God through their pursuit of Him, it is a powerful testimony of God’s goodness.

🔔 As Ashley and Noah’s wedding day approaches, I see this passage as a declaration over their lives. God has shown His goodness in bringing them to this day and will continue to show it as they serve in ministry together. Through every season, He has been faithful.

📣 The Biblical call to declare the works of God to the next generation is handed down to every new union in Christ. There is no doubt that Ashley & Noah will share God’s goodness to the world as they follow Him as husband and wife. We can’t wait to celebrate His abundant goodness and joyfully sing of His righteousness this weekend!

Having a father who walks in step with the Spirit and lives out his callings and gifts with integrity is truly a gift! I know our kids are blessed and truly happier because of the character they see live out each day. He makes life fun and yet also points us to serving Jesus and loving others well. We love celebrating him today!

My earthly father went to heaven in 2017 and I miss him dearly. He was a loving and faithful prayer warrior who built our home on the foundation of the Gospel. He was a Toolmaker by trade and could fix or build most anything. If I needed some advice, he was always there. But in 2016, brain cancer became part of the story. It was an 11-month journey that ended in the victory of heaven.

In his absence, I have learned to depend on God as my Heavenly Father in even deeper ways. He’s the one I call on when I need help. He can truly fix anything!

I realize that Father’s Day may stir many emotions-some happy, some sad and maybe some huge disappointments. But what I truly know is that the love of our Heavenly Father NEVER fails. He’s not just a better version of our earthly dads, He’s the PERFECT version!

Whether your Dad is present, absent, or deceased, know that God the Father is ready to meet you in every season. He’s ready to answer your questions, comfort your sorrows, and provide for your every need. Both now and forever.

Faith ~ Hope ~ Love

I can hardly write this one without tears welling up because it’s faith, hope and love that remind us of what truly matters in this life.

The reality of this life reflecting something far greater to come in heaven leaves me speechless. To see Jesus as He truly is…unhindered by the haze of this world is worth reflecting on. Yet, you see, Brooke, ‘s daughter, read this passage in a devotional the very same day of her entrance into heaven. While this tragedy came without warning, the sovereign hand of the Lord had already begun weaving a miracle of faith, hope and love in the lives of those left behind.

The Naylor family’s bond of love with each other and the Lord is strong. As only God could orchestrate, Brooke’s husband put his faith in the Lord only a few days after her passing. Their times shared together in the Word truly set the foundation for the comfort, hope, faith and love they found in Christ through such sorrow. Only God can cause this type of beauty to rise from ashes.

While we still mourn for these earthly losses, we can, at the same time, rejoice that Brooke is fully known by her Savior and seeing Him in all of His glory.

+“For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Today we honor the men and women that sacrificed their lives in service for our country and the freedoms we enjoy. To ignore their sacrifice is to deny their service and forget the cost. May that not be said of us.

As believers, we understand the idea of sacrifice for freedom. Our salvation is built on the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. He has freed us from the bo***ge of the law, the wages of sin and any of our feeble attempts to earn His favor.

So let us live with His sacrifice in mind. let us not grow complacent for His great gift. We are free in Christ, because of grace and that’s reason to give thanks.

When we sense our joy fizzling out, let’s examine the placement of our trust. Is He our strength or are we trusting in ourselves, our circumstances or in another person? As believers, the Lord is our strength and our shield. He gives us confidence and protection because He is the One who never fails. Let’s give Him our praise and let joy leap from our hearts!

Oh to be able to love others the way Christ loved us! We see this kind of love personified in God the Father who gave His only Son to die for us. We see it offered in the obedience of Jesus on the cross out of His love for us - sinners in need of a savior. He didn’t give it cautiously, half-heartedly, or with conditions. We are to love like Him, to model His love to our brothers, sisters, neighbors, and yes, even our enemies. A love that is not self-seeking or measured. This is extravagant love.

Jesus calls us to put our full belief in Him, believing that He is able to carry out the seemingly impossible actions in our lives. Our faith may look small, but it’s sturdy and powerful in His hands. This mustard-seed size faith believes in God who is the Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, Miracle-worker and Way-maker over it all.

Caila is a beautiful high school senior who was in a car accident earlier this year that left her in a wheelchair. But we know that this is not the end of her story. God doesn’t leave us in our suffering but He meets us there in new and unforeseen ways strengthening our faith in Him. We believe God is at work and that nothing is impossible for Him! We have faith that He is able to bring her through this next season with His way-making, miracle-working, promise-keeping, light in the darkness power because that is Who He is!

Sometimes we love the past because it seems better to us than the present. But God doesn’t see like we do. He is calling us higher. He wants us to pay attention to the new work He is doing in us. God is providing a way in our wilderness and provisions in what feels like a wasteland. He never wastes what He’s already purposed. Let’s have eyes to see the new work He is doing today.
