What is this?
This is aspirate from a patients lips. Aspiration is the process of pulling back on a syringe plunger prior to injecting. Aspiration during an injection is meant to ensure that the needle tip is at the desired location. As an experienced injector who has injected thousands of faces and has been to more than one cadaver course, I still feel the need to aspirate with every injection. Habit? Safety? Comfort? Probably, all of the above because studies have shown aspirating is not 100%. I will do it till the day I die and this is why.⬇️
The aspirate in this photo was aspirated at a superficial depth in the lips. The inferior labial artery lays between the mucosa and lower part of the muscle (deeper). This vessel is typically not superficial. I am so glad that I aspirated because, god placed her vessel out of the norm.
Why do we aspirate?
We do not want to put filler into a vessel, doing so can cause a multitude of medical complications. These complications are rare, but with a needle in the wrong hands it can become a dangerous weapon.
It is important that you know your provider, their experience and expertise. A course or two does not make them an expert. A training or two does not make them an expert, a degree does not make them an expert. EXPERIENCE, practice & education make one an expert. You want an expert injecting your face, Right? Why this post?
Here’s a weird example:
Would you open up an accounting firm after taking a weekend course and a couple trainings? Would you open up your own dance studio after taking a few classes and then teach others to dance when you have only been doing it yourself for a few years?
That does not seem right, does it?
Please know that people are opening up “med spas” “injector clinics”, offices, practices- with NO experience or PRACTICE, only after taking one or two courses and trainings. It is important for the public to know and understand, that injections, lasers all of the things we do are not taught in school (MD, PA,RN, NP or estheticians).
Be careful who you trust with your face. Please see an EXPERIENCED provider who has been injecting for a bit. ASK questions and Good luck!

Facial asymmetry is when the sides of the face appear different from the other. This can include any of the facial structures: the cheeks, chin, eyes, brows, jaw, lips, or nose. The extent of facial asymmetry can vary drastically from mild to severe, which in turn can lead to insecurity issues.
It may help knowing that only 2% of the human population has a perfectly symmetric face (truly nobody is perfect). Facial plastic surgery and the placement of injectables can help to achieve a more symmetric look, but please know that it is impossible for an injector or surgeon to make you perfectly symmetric! We will however, get you close.

Well, that’s what we do at Wise Aesthetics, our goal is to realistically treat your concerns.
Under eyes can be hard, not everyone is a candidate for filler, sometimes we have to use many different modalities to treat this area.
The best approach is to start slow. I treated this beauty with mid face and lateral cheek filler to support aging structures, she still had a significant hollow under her eyes, so I decided under eye filler was needed at that point. Luckily, she is a candidate for tear trough filler, 1 syringe of Restylane L cannula approach was used to treat the under eye.

The ideal tear tough filler candidate should:
-Have hollowing/volume loss under the eyes
-Have good skin thickness and elasticity
-Be physically healthy
-Mild to moderate sagging under the eyes
💉On top of these physical attributes, having realistic expectations and understanding this treatment is temporary, requiring you to top up after 6-12 months.

Who is unsuitable for tear trough filler?
-Those with very thin skin
- Dark circles caused by lifestyle habits or genetics
-Extremely deep tear troughs
-Excess skin/fat bulging/ puffy bags under your eyes
-Any kind of skin infection under your eye
-Frequent swelling under your eyes from allergies and or other reasons.

Don’t worry we can treat the darkness too, those with hollowing and darkness not treated by filler we recommend a 2 tiered approach, filler and a series of PRFM. We have seen magnificent results utilizing this approach.
Those with just darkness and no hollow PRFM is also our gold standard approach..

Slow and steady always win the race. Lip filler can be natural looking and plumping when placed by an experienced injector with an ARTISTIC eye, just because someone opened a “spa” and took a course to inject Botox and filler does not make them an expert.

You may ask, what does HD Radiesse do and what is it?
While it sounds complicated, hyperdiluted Radiesse is simply Radiesse that has been thinned out with a mixture of saline solution.
