Equestrian Preserve at Old Mill Farm
The Preservation of this Equestrian and Historic Property is first and foremost. Let's preserve it as everything equestrian.
Horse farms like these are becoming more and more rare in the South losing to development, subdivisions, or warehouses.

With a severe north Georgia drought followed by days of drought-breaking rain, colic risks increase.
Summertime Colic Risks via equusmagazine.com
Impaction colic. Dehydration from heavy sweating and/or reduced water intake, combined with dry hay or pasture in a drought situation, can lead to impaction colic.
Gas colic. When grass recovers after a drought-breaking rain, the sugars it contains can ferment in an unprepared digestive tract, leading to gas colic. This is essentially Mother Nature causing the very same sudden dietary shift horse owners are cautioned to not make themselves. Gas colic can be intensely painful as the bubbles work their way through the digestive tract.
Summertime colic risks Two types of colic can strike as a result of warm weather conditions, and knowing how they occur will help you to prevent them.

We are loving the rain and some cooler temps ♥️
Congratulations to Bri and Journey on their skills, and of course Eileen for raising such a great horse and amazing athlete 🎉. So proud and excited for this team bringing home 2nd in Novice this weekend at Bouckaert Equestrian Eventing Horse Trials Area III Championships!
Some fun jumping today
Arena is coming along. Fun to watch these two.
And a little bit of THIS. The arena needs about an inch of footing
This time of year, it's okay to overflow the troughs. Water is the absolute best source of moisture for dry or cracked hooves. During the summer months on very dry days, and especially the night before our favorite farrier arrives, we spray our horses hooves for 15 minutes, and we love when they loiter around the water trough puddles and soak up all the goodness. So go ahead and let those troughs overflow - your equine friend will thank you, and so will your farrier!
Replacement of the electrical and lighting in the boarding barn
Our boarding barn is really coming along by freshening up the stalls
It's going to be a very hot weekend. Up the daily salt intake, as well as electrolytes for yourself and your horses if in work, to make sure all are drinking lots of water. Stay cool everyone!
Renovating a hay/shavings shed into a run under. The bones are good. Siding is shot and rotten. Some replacement of roof.
Some new horses getting acquainted with the property.
Repairing years of neglect on fenceline
Nothing like a good roll to start the day...
