Good Morning Findley’s Butcher Shop Hunters,
With deer season only a couple of months away we are making our preparations to best serve y’all. Unfortunately, deer coolers and other processors in our area continue to either close for good or are raising their prices (some as much as $150 per deer). Because of this, this year will be a very busy year for us. Therefore, we took a step back and looked at either raising our processing prices or limiting our options for processing. We didn’t want to do either and decided not to raise the general processing fee but to raise the prices on the options that are the most time consuming. For most hunters (95%, according to our previous years records), this will not affect you. All services that hunters received in the past will still be available with the following changes: cube steak, stew meat and jerky slices are all now $5lb. Please remember that this is not an all or nothing. The hunter can specify how many pounds of each they will require to stay within their budget. We understand that this is a change but this will speed up our processing as we do not want to turn any hunters away as few options exist for deer processing in the area.

3 Day Pickup Deadline
For those who do not know, we have a pickup deadline of 3 days. 3 days from the time we notify the hunter by phone call, text message and email. This year and going forward, it is more important than ever to pick up within this time frame as the volume of business will be so much higher and we are limited on freezer space. We have upgraded our ice machines, ice bins and grinders and also bought additional coolers to process faster, but our bottleneck every year is pickup. With this being said, orders that are not picked up within the 3 day time period will be sold for the processing fee. If going out of town, please make arrangements ahead of time for someone to pick it up. We have payments by Zelle available (which will be the same as cash for the cash discount) to pay when away and the hunter can specify who is picking up their harvest. We have signs hanging up throughout our locations informing hunters about the 3 day pickup, it is on our processing forms, our disclaimer on the back of our processing form, our website, page and also, when the hunter drops off, we will provide them with a small slip of paper with the reminder as well. We do not want to sell the hunters meat to someone else and very rarely is it needed. When the deer is ready, we will call, text and email for up to 3 days. After the 3rd day, the deer will be considered abandoned and will be available for purchase from our waiting list.

Waiting Lists for Abandoned Deer
We will have a signup sheet for Abandoned Deer. How this works is that any deer that is abandoned can be sold for the processing costs the original hunter would have paid. It must all go to one person. If you want to sign up, please contact your nearest location and we will take your name, phone number and email address. When a deer becomes available, we start calling/texting/emailing the list and it is on a first come first served basis. There will be no holds, so the deer meat needs to be picked up at the exact time of purchase. The entire purpose of this is to free up freezer space for the next hunters.

Last reminder, for the hunters that hunt out of state, please remember that it is now illegal to have bones from other states. They will be turned away.
