Saturday morning hive check at Edgewood Hives. The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and its one of those miraculous days where you can smell the ocean breeze even though it's 6.5 miles away.. Life is good ❤

Purple pollen 💜💜💜

After our largest and most productive hive swarmed in late May we made several new splits from the bees that were left behind. This particular hive was given a queen cell, honey, pollen, and several frames of larva, and these ladies immediately got to work establishing a new hive. Their new queen hatched several weeks ago, flew off to mate, and has since made it back safely. This new young queen is performing beautifully and is well on her way to being one of our strongest new hives. I currently call them the clover hive ( just because there's a large patch of clover growing directly below them.. which is not very original, I know..) but now that she's established and thriving, we feel it's time she gets an official name of her own.
