▶️I have become aware that I tend to have negative thoughts about myself.
▶️I have observed a recurring negative pattern in my personal relationships.
▶️I notice cycles of trauma in my family.
▶️I am ready to break trauma cycles and negative patterns of behavior in my life.
▶️I am ready to say the trauma stops with me.
If you answered yes to the statements above this is your sign.
Will you answer the call to go on an adventure of a lifetime that will forever change your life and future generations?
I recently went on a wonderful trip to Adelboden, Switzerland with my daughter, and it was the most beautiful country we've ever visited. During our hike to the waterfalls in Adelboden, I captured a serene image that made me appreciate the importance of peace and tranquility in our lives.
My advice to you is to always safeguard your inner peace. If certain individuals in your life consistently cause drama, it's important to establish healthy boundaries and break that cycle. Keep this in mind on this Monday morning and prioritize your peace.

In the early days of my relationship with my now husband, I struggled with vulnerability and fear of abandonment. These feelings came to a head when we faced a major transition in our relationship - moving in together. I was afraid that if things didn't work out, we would end up like my parents.
However, through my journey, I have learned that just because my parents had a certain type of relationship, it did not mean that mine would be the same. My partner and I had the power to create the kind of relationship we desired by changing any behaviors that did not serve us.
Ultimately, I have come to realize that I am in control of my own happiness and the success of my relationship. I am the captain of my own ship, and I am capable of steering it in the direction I desire. Drop a heat in the comments if you agree.

I have a photo from a wonderful weekend spent together that I'd like to share.
At Bhmba, we take our business personally. After deciding to change the direction of our operations, we spent quality time together to discuss the details. We explored the town and enjoyed each other's company.
If you're considering reconnecting with someone you care about, go for it! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you think a relationship can be repaired. You never know. You could end up dancing on a dock like we did.

Taking a moment to pause is helpful on my healing journey.
At various times, I found myself using busyness as a way to avoid confronting traumatic experiences and negative behavioral patterns. By keeping myself occupied with work and volunteering, I was able to avoid addressing important aspects of my life that required love, comfort, and understanding.
It may be intimidating to embrace stillness and allow for moments of silence, but doing so can lead to personal growth and transformation. I encourage you to take a moment to pause and reflect today.

ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE JOURNEY?
When you decide to break family trauma cycles, you must be intentional.
When I became a parent, my top priority was to provide my children with a joyful and affectionate childhood. I made sure to give them happy and memorable experiences to achieve this.
This summer, I took my daughter on an amazing trip to Europe, which was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for both of us. During our journey, we visited five different countries and captured numerous pictures. This trip not only created unforgettable memories but also strengthened our bond and taught my daughter the importance of spending quality time with loved ones without any distractions. This has improved our communication and brought us closer as a family.
As parents, my husband and I believed that traveling to new places would expose our children to different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life, which would help them broaden their horizons and develop empathy and understanding. This exposure is valuable, and we are making sure that the cycle of family trauma is not repeated.
In the picture, my daughter and I are standing in front of the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. The Colosseum was built between 72 A.D. and 80 A.D. under Emperor Vespasian, in the heart of Ancient Rome.
This picture was taken on one of the hottest days in Italy, with the temperature reaching 103!

Despite not having a traditional cousin relationship growing up, as adults we have made a commitment to build the connection we always wanted.
Unfortunately, many others like us did not have the opportunity to form loving relationships with their families. We hope that our story will inspire you to believe that it's never too late to heal and repair your relationships.
Tune into our upcoming podcast, The Cycle Breakers Table, which will be available in January 2024. We will share our journey of healing from childhood trauma and creating a healthy bond as cousins by breaking the cycles of family trauma.

Social workers are closely linked to people who have experienced a hard time in life, so they are susceptible to secondary trauma. For example, a social worker may experience viable symptoms of secondary trauma, especially when they work with cases like:
-Suicides
-Abuse, violence, physical or sexual assault
-Death or lifetime injury
-Assisting people with the loss of a loved one
-Experiencing the death of a client
What is secondary trauma?
Secondary trauma is defined as indirect exposure to trauma through a firsthand account or narrative of a traumatic event. The vivid recounting of trauma by the survivor and the clinician's subsequent cognitive or emotional representation of that event may result in a set of symptoms and reactions that parallel PTSD. (Psychiatric Times)
As a social worker how do you manage your feelings and emotions concerning the death of a client? How do your process a case that involves sexual abuse?
When in the helping profession may find yourself managing difficult cases. It is important for you to develop a self care plan for your mental and emotional health.
If you are social worker or planning to go into the field we recommend creating a wellness plan for your mental and emtional wellbeing.

October is the time of the year the trees change color, and we drink warm apple cider and pumpkin spice coffee. Our children enjoy fun fall activities and it's the only time of the year it's okay to knock on a stranger's door and get free candy. But drug dealers have other plans for our children.
Parents need to be extra careful this year because drug dealers are looking for younger clients. In 21 states the DEA has found Rainbow Fentanyl. These dangerous drugs look like candy. It comes in bright colors and is shaped like "Sweet Tarts". This synthetic opioid is 100 times more potent than morphine.
Parents, please talk with your kids about the tactics the drug dealers are using to get our children addicted.
Young People Being Targeted With 'Rainbow Fentanyl,’ US Government Warns “They’re doing this to get new users, to appeal to younger users. We’re finding it all over the social media platforms. Rainbow pills are all over,” said the administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration.
