These are the patches I made for this year! I forgot to photograph it all together, so I am using the lovley photo took of the package she received. I love this event. It's fun, easy, and you get to just create. Not to mention, make a new friend!
Scratch made cake pops. The girls and I made these for dessert tonight. I figured it cost me $7-$8 to make these. Most of the cost was the melting chocolate and sticks. We got 30 of them from 1 cake, so the means they cost about 0.25 cents each. Meanwhile, a certain coffee chain charges, what, like $4 each?!
Sally Scanlan Haas My Fox Den project bag carries some on the go knitting to the neighborhood park in February!
I made this from handspun holding 2 yarns together. I only used 10g of a Mohair lace weight. Great pattern for a special skein of yarn.

Projects like this are what inspired me to learn to knit in the first place!
This is the first time I've completed a stranded colorwork project. After some gauge issues on the first slipper, I started over. I now have a beautiful new pair of slippers.

Live and learn... Colorwork! Most patterns recommend going up a needle size to do stranded colorwork. I apparently need to go down a size, or 5!!
This beautiful pattern is called and is by
The pattern itself is pretty easy to work, but I keep messing it up!!!
The first slipper is supposed to fit my woman's size 7 foot, but instead fits my husband's men's size 12 feet! (That's even with the last bit of colorwork removed from the pattern)
So, I started over using smaller needles and tightening my gauge as I worked. Now I see I've skipped over part of the pattern and made a mistake a few rows back!!
I will persist and get this right!
I learned some really cool new things!!!
I always admire stranded colorwork patterns, but every time I tried to work one, it was a disaster.
I saw a reel from recently demonstrating how she holds her yarn for stranded colorwork. I thought to myself, "I could do that," so I tried it, and it actually wasn't horrible!
Then I saw a reel from demonstrating how to do the Jaquard Ladder Back stitch as a way to deal with long floats. I thought, "That looks helpful," and decided to try that too!
This is a little swatch of a free pattern called cats in a hat. The pattern is from Ravelry. The pattern doesn't have the ladder stitch in it, I just added it in where the floats were long. I added in a little nose at the end with a double stitch. What could I use this little swatch for, maybe a wrist warmer?
I've moved on to tiny stockings! Again, I'm just playing around with stranded colorwork and various knitting techniques. I like the way the broken rib in 2 colors works for this part of the heel. The red and white yarn is handspun Jacob wool, and the green is handspun CVM wool.
Oh, look, more tiny knitting! Im using up the scraps of handspun yarn by practicing my stranded colorwork. This little Christmas stocking is made using natural color and red dyed as well as green dyed 2 breeds
One more tiny sweater, this one also made from handspun Jacob's wool, using the natural colors. This one is going to be a gift though.
I perfected my pattern for the raglan sleeve tiny sweater! I really love making these. This one used appx 40 yards of sock weight handspun, so they're great if you have a little bit of leftover yarn.
Oh, and doesn't that red Jacob wool look beautiful?!
Do you have a favorite sock heel? New socks, new socks! Made with my handspun CVM yarn. Wool dyed by me prior to spinning.
I used 2 at a time, toe up construction, with a fleegle heel.
Fleegle heel is incredibly easy to knit. It also fits my foot really well. I knit a ribbed cuff at first but didn't like it with this stitch pattern, so I opted for a simple rolled cuff. I tried the Chinese waitress bind-off, which was perfect for the rolled cuff.
There is a free pattern/formula on Ravelry called Fleegles Toe up socks (it also has instructions for top down) that details how to work this type of heel!
What is your favorite sock heel? This may be my new favorite, but I ALWAYS say that!
Red is an extremely hard color to photograph! I wanted a small bit of red yarn, so I decided to make some. That's the beauty of being a handspinner.
Since it wasn't for a specific project, I just experimented with the dye. How the color came out is just beautiful!
This is Jacob wool, and it's being spun to make a 3 ply sport weight. I cut up the dark before carding to add little tweedy neps to the yarn, and I think it's the perfect addition. ❤️🎄
Jacob Fleece from
Another tiny sweater! I could have planned this design a bit better, but I was just so excited to try some stranded colorwork. For someone who has never knit anything fair isle, I am pretty proud of how this came out.
I saw a wonderful tutorial from on how to hold your colors for continental stranded knitting, and it worked beautifully!
Does anyone have any suggestions of actual patterns for tiny sweaters that use stranded colorwork, either free or paid?
I knit another tiny sweater! I'm thinking of adding a little embroidery or maybe a pattern with duplicate stitches. Any ideas?
My sweater ornament... Look at this teeny tiny sweater I knit today! Some people knit "ugly sweaters" for the holidays, I guess I knit tiny sweaters.
I knit this with some of my leftover handspun yarn made from a Jacob Fleece I purchased.
I had this yarn on a bobbin forever. I finally decided to finish spinning it and ply. Who else has mostly finished spins sitting around taking up bobbins?
This is a natural colored CVM wool that I dyed over.
I finished this pair of fingerless mitts today. No pattern, just a knit I did for fun. I used a folded and sewn picot edge on both the top and bottom.
A picture of my "Double Blind Hemstitch." The black is killing me! IYKYK
This is what I call a Double Blind Hemstitch. A Blind hem that you feel like you're blind while doing. Every light in the house is on and I can't tell what I'm stitching. Dang this black fabric and black thread. I thought hemming my new pants would be a quick project. Guess again.
That folded and sewn hem was a bit of a learning curve, but I like it! A duplicate stitch closed the gap between the thumb right up. Now for mitten #2!
I forgot to cast on extra stitches! 😡
I finished this handspun hat. I learned a new cast on from they call it long tail tubular cast on. It's actually a double knit cast on, but it works beautifully for ribbing! It's my new go-to. My last few knits have been with cotton, and I'd forgotten just how much I love wool, especially handspun!!
Knit DK with a CVM and mixed wool handspun and an Alpaca+Icelandic handspun
I tried a long tail tubular cast on for the first time. I really like it. Look at how pretty that edge is! Has anyone else tried it?
Knitting a from with my handspun yarns.
I finished knitting this washcloth today. Check out how neat that edge is! I like making washcloths because they're a fun way to try different stitch patterns and techniques without committing to a large project.
I missed 2 rows but decided I could live with it since the overall effect was still being achieved. I also left off a chunk of pattern repeats because I was running out of yarn, and the full pattern would have made an oversized cloth anyway.
Newest finished object! Another by

It's still 95 degrees here in Houston TX!
Today, we made buttons at our local library. The mini mountainscape is my original art. I drew it at the library, and I quite like the way it came out!
My oldest daughter painted me the smiley face button. My youngest made me the cute Halloween button. They also made a few others for themselves...
Crochet Hair accessories! Bandana, head scarf, hair tie...
It's a granny "square" done in a triangle with some picot edges and tie backs. That's all. They are super easy, quick, and fun.
The cream color one is done with a worsted weight cotton yarn and a 3.5mm hook. The burnt red was done with a lace weight cotton yarn and a 2mm hook.
The crochet kick continues! I'm in love with my new granny square purse. I wanted something that fit my phone, but wasn't big enough to collect junk. Voila!
My favorite aspects actually ended up being the green stoneware button, handmade by a fellow fiber art friend, and the strap, which came purely from my imagination. I remade the strap 4 times, but I'm so glad I did!
Okay, here is one more! LOL, I've clearly been on a kick of making crocheted plant hangers. I don't even have a plant to go inside of this one, so I guess I'll have to get one!
