Let the speaking travel begin! Glad to be in person with The Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers for their annual convention in Atlanta!
Leading my workshops on “Reframing the Identity Narrative with the Imposter Syndrome” and “Coping with Grief and Trauma in the Workplace.”
Going to be a fun month since this is the first in a travel whirlwind the next few weeks!
Coming full circle!
Enjoyed being in Los Angeles last week to lead mental health sessions at the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) Annual Convention! First time held in person since 2019.
I absolutely loved leading the mental health session for J-Camp - AAJA’s multicultural journalism program for high school students. (I also led the session for college and grad students).
If you didn’t know, I started my career in broadcast journalism in DC so giving back to journalists and budding journalists is super special.
I discussed with students prevalent mental health issues as well as answered a plethora of insightful questions. I really won them over by incorporating Korean dramas into my talk and pointing out how they benefit our mental health 😉
So coming full circle - my own career journey entrails moving from broadcasting to business school to motherhood to marketing to graduate school for therapy to running my own private practice.
Today, I am using all those skills as a corporate speaker and mental health expert for organizations. 😎
The best Mother’s Day ever! All of my kids together and getting to be with my mom too. Can’t think of a better way to spend Mother’s Day than watching my first child graduate from college. She graduates with a dual degree from NC State University and UNC Chapel Hill in Biomedical Engineering.
I can’t even explain the emotions…. But I can say how proud I am to have my daughter enter the field as a Korean American female. She moves to Washington, DC in five days and will begin her career with Medtronic (medical devices) in cardiology and electrophysiology at the end of the month.
What a way to celebrate my Asian heritage! 🥳. Today’s milestone for me as a mother gave my mental health the boost it needed to get through my busiest month yet!
Happy API heritage month and mental health awareness month!
Excited to kick off today Asian Pacific Islander Heritage Month (APIHM) and National Mental Health Awareness Month with the 2nd annual Transformasian conference hosted by Asian Mental Health Collective.
I feel so privileged to be moderating a fireside chat with New York Times bestselling authors Cathy Park Hong (Minor Feelings) and Michelle Zauner (Crying in H Mart). Our chat will highlight themes from the three conference pillars - self, community, society.
Looking forward to gleaning from their wisdom!
Sharing this article from CNN where I was interviewed in remembrance of the one year anniversary of the Atlanta spa shooting tragedy on March 16, 2021.
I talk about what it looks like coping with trauma. Thank you, Julia Chan for your work on this!

Reframing our narrative, addressing Asian stereotypes, and promoting a sense of belonging among POCs in the workplace are the biggest takeaways from speaking with employee resource group (ERG) leaders this week.
There’s impactful change happening in corporate America and I’m so excited to be part of it by encouraging and empowering these Asian leaders all the way! 💪
There. Is. Hope.
It's been a while since I posted (and yes, I did have to deal with getting hacked). In the days and weeks ahead, I hope I'm as as I can be for my AAPI community.
I'll be facilitating numerous conversations and talks around trauma and how to cope. It's not easy to talk about, but definitely the norm these days.
I had hoped 2022 would look different.
There is always hope and as I like to say, no one can take away your hope.
Reposting - AAPI women and enbies, join us next week for a special session of The Space for grief, healing, and processing our sense of safety in everyday environments with Jeanie Y. Chang, LMFT, CCTP, CIMHP.
Previously this event was scheduled as a space for talking about relationships, but we’ve pivoted in light of recent events. This intimate session will be capped at 25 participants. Participants must abide by the AAJA Code of Conduct. The ink to register is in our bio.
It’s been a tradition of mine the last several years to have ONE word sum up how I want to live out the year.
I’m eagerly anticipating what 2022 will look like since it’s the year of the Tiger and I was born in the year of the Tiger! 😎 Going to be a banner year, I believe!
Here’s to a RESOURCEFUL 2022!🎊

Working with Headspace Inc. was a wonderful experience!
I scripted and recorded three meditations with mindfulness techniques for Headspace Inc. as part of its Navigating injustice series.
In my passion for promoting DEI, I chose to focus on what I call, mindful identity. I’ve spoken on it quite a bit in my corporate workshops the last 20 months. It’s also a core topic in my Cultural Confidence® curriculum.
Please free to listen to my guided meditations on the Headspace app. I hope they help you!
Thank you Headspace for your partnership, and for also supporting Asian Mental Health Collective!

K-Dramas have been a global phenomenon even before Squid Game. I’ve been using them in my clinical work for a while now because they’re helpful in addressing the mental health needs of many diverse communities across generations!
K-Drama storytelling helps us make sense of our emotions and experiences in such a powerful way. It’s why I launched my Noona’s Noonchi YouTube channel.
I’m thrilled about next Tuesday’s event hosted by the AARP AAPI Community with Next Day Better and AMHC. 🤗. It’s holiday season so finding Asian joy in K-Dramas seems like a great way to spend the holidays don’t you think? I’ll be highlighting Hometown Cha Cha Cha and a few other K-Dramas as examples!
Join us for this meaningful conversation next Tuesday, November 30 at 5 pm ET! Register for this free event via the Solo link in my bio.

Despite Controversy Kim Seon-Ho Will Star In The Film ‘Sad Tropics’ The producers decided to confirm his role despite a recent scandal.
Highlight of my week! Speaking on campus for Korean American students UNC Chapel Hill 😀
It felt so good interacting in person with college students again (had to remind myself that they’re my kids’ ages) since I get so much energy being around them. 😅
Workshop key topic included suicidality in light of the recent su***des on campus 🥺. I’m seeing a rise in suicidality on college campuses and being a college mom myself, it hits even harder.
The more attention and support we can give these students, the better. 🙏🏻
UNC KASA gifted me with this year’s tshirt! 앞 means front and 뒤 means back in Korean. 😎 In return, I gifted the KASA executive board signed copies of my book.

Building stress resilience means mixing business with pleasure for good mental health. 🤗. Enjoyed my first in person speaking event since February 2020 at a gorgeous venue! A well organized, safe hybrid conference makes for a great speaker experience! 👏 And, I had my best cheerleader with me. ❤️
Thank you NCACPA for inviting me. Looking forward to speaking at your annual symposium in November! 😀

It’s World Su***de Prevention Day.
Dedicating today in reflection and mindful meditation to a most gentle and loving person who was one of my clients. His name is Matthew and he took his life last November 21, 2020. This photo was taken in September, 2019 when I got to attend their city hall wedding. ❤️
Su***de and suicidality - the term that refers to suicidal ideation, making su***de plans, and su***de attempts - can affect everyone one of us. Su***de is preventable, but we need to raise awareness, reduce stigma, encourage conversations and action for change.
Whatever actions we can do may provide someone HOPE who’s struggling. Calling you forward on ‘creating hope through action.’ 🙏🏻
