TLC’s Juvenile Literacy Center (JLC) partnered this summer with community organizations and schools in Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Person, Vance, and Wake counties to host summer literacy programs throughout summer break. Check out the photographs from Wake's Ship-A-Chip Challenge at the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center in downtown Raleigh!
The Challenge:
Students were asked to use a random assortment of materials to create a safe vessel that would help a single Pringle chip survive a journey in the mail from downtown Raleigh to Durham. Nothing was allowed to be directly connected to the chip and the vessel had to be larger than 4x6 but smaller than 8.5x11. Materials included cardboard, bubble wrap, cotton balls, cardstock, tape, envelopes, craft sticks, rubber bands, paper clips, straight pins, and more. The winning team earned a special treat during their lunch break.
