Tonight we bid farewell to the greatest band of all time. In a full on, bombastic, live spectacle sense anyway.

KISS has arguably the single largest source of inspiration for Grave Corps. I realize to some that may not be a groundbreaking revelation, but there are some that I’ve spoken with that haven’t drawn the parallel. The latter always does my heart good because we pride ourselves in wearing the influences on our sleeve, but not letting them define us.

Anyway, that band changed my entire life in the year 1996 at the tender age of 12. The very fabric of my being was forever altered. They were the perfect bridge between comic books and rock ‘n’ roll.

I have been fortunate enough to have seen them live 6 times since I was 15 in the year 2000. I have been lucky enough to personally stand in front of Peter Criss, Ace Frehley and the almighty Gene Simmons to tell them that their music was everything to me. Then shamelessly hand them Grave Corps CDs. No greater joy than handing the people that inspired you the product of that inspiration.

Due to a serendipitous occurrence of the fates I had the privilege of witnessing one of the final 4 of these Larger Than Life size events last week. The band was still just as mind blowing to me as it was 27 years ago.

Tonight I will be watching the pay per view broadcast of the final show from Madison Square Garden. Most likely with tears in my eyes. Grateful that I was able to walk this earth at the same time as this monumental group.

On behalf of Grave Corps, because we would not exist without them, I would just like to extend a sincere thank you to Gene, Paul, Ace, Peter, Eric, Vinnie, Mark, Bruce, Eric, and Tommy. You will forever be the hottest band in the world…

Happy Birthday to Grave Corps alumni, Daniel DeKay!

One of the hardest hitting mother fu***rs to ever pick up the sticks, Daniel was integral in developing the Grave Corps sound in the formative years. His talents can be heard on our debut album, “Blood Soaked Serenade”, and some of the more recent material, “Beware the Blood Moon”, “Horror Show”, and “Slash & Burn”. He has also popped in to do gang vocals on a plethora of other material over the years. All of which are featured on last year’s anthology album, “Fifteen Years of Fright”! Go give that a spin in honor of his special day! 🎃

Before I retire to the underworld for the foreseeable future…

I’m a firm believer in people using their gifts for the betterment of humanity. Whether you are a gifted writer, artist, musician, chef, medical professional, welder, farmer, barista, mechanic, lawyer, etc. I feel that at some point in your life, you should share that gift with others. Whether that’s paying it forward in the coffee line, helping a family in need after hours, or singing your heart out to raise money for those in need. Whatever sharing your gift looks like to you, I am all for people helping people the best way they know how.

I held my first benefit show in 2009 to raise memorial funds for a friend who died by su***de in high school. All of the proceeds from my senior recital went to my friend’s family to put towards unexpected funeral expenses. I didn’t make much. I think it was $60, if that. I gave the proceeds to his family and despite it not being the big amount I hoped to give them, they were so, so grateful. I never forgot that moment. The show didn’t bring their son back, but knowing someone cared and still thought about their son spoke volumes to their broken hearts. The recital in turn offered me closure as I mourned the loss of my friend, and I never forgot that feeling.

Fast forward roughly 15 years into the future, and I am part of the good I want to see in the world. To date, Chaos For A Cause has raised over $20,000 for Iowa Giving Crew, and I couldn’t be more proud of our team.

All of the work we do for Chaos For A Cause is completely voluntary. This is done in addition to our time spent hustling for Grave Corps, working full-time, running a household, and trying to raise the next KISS Army recruit. And I wouldn’t change a thing. 🖤

We are so fortunate to have so many talented and dedicated individuals in our corner. None of this would have been possible without each and every one of you. Including all of you who showed up to have a good time all in the name of helping your neighbor. You all SHOWED UP and deserve a HUGE standing ovation. We are eternally grateful for your unwavering support.

Chaos For A Cause isn’t going to end world-hunger. We’re not going to end generational poverty. Our work barely scratches the surface of an underlying problem that we as a society need to address, preferably sooner rather than later. But 1,000 people will have full bellies this holiday season. And that’s all thanks to our amazing team, our beloved fans, the overthinking sleepless nights, frantic mornings trying to get out of the door on time, and SO. MUCH. COFFEE. ☕️😵‍💫😅

$10,008. What an absolute dream come true!! When we started this endeavor 4 years ago and scraped together $500 to donate to Iowa Giving Crew after Rock 108’s call for donations, we never thought it would amount to this.

Months of planning and coordination go into this event. Our marketing efforts are spread throughout all of Iowa and we are so fortunate to have help from the entire Grave Corps crew, Chaos For A Cause team, as well as other generous souls like NonGrata in hanging flyers, coordinating with sponsors, and spreading the word of Chaos.

From the bottom of our blackened hearts, thank you all for another successful year of Chaos. You all came out in droves and it shows!! The continuous support of area businesses and organizations as well as members of the community each passing year warms our cold, dead hearts. To have such a successful event based on our love of good ol’ fashioned rock n’ roll, general chaos, and giving back to the community is such an amazing feeling. We couldn’t have done it without all of you, and we are eternally grateful for all of the love and support you have shown both Grave Corps and Chaos For A Cause.

We CANNOT WAIT for you to see the first official LIVE Grave Corps release. Shout out again to Thrash Panda Media and Catamount Recording for filming and recording this monumental occasion. 🎥🎞️🎵🎶
