SB 829 has been voted out of committee and is headed for Calemdars. But the deadline to be placed on the Calendar SUNDAY -- that means tomorrow is the day for action. We NEED people to visit the Capitol tomorrow and walk to all 11 offices of the members of the Calendar Committee! All you have to do is ask for a "green card" -- the staff know what to do. Fill out the green card, make your rounds in about an hour, and then leave knowing you've done everything that could possibly have been done to help get this bill over the finish line.

HB 276 Passes Texas House on 2nd Reading
HB 276, our favorite "chicken bill" of the session, has passed its second House reading with 107 votes. The debate is worth watching. Representatives Terry Canales, Gina Hinojosa, and several dozen others seem to have forgotten they voted yes on literally this exact bill last session. 🤦‍♀️
It would not hurt to call your State Representative's office right now, or in the morning, to reinforce their YES vote. The bill still has to be voted on tomorrow for its third and final House vote. The record vote will be posted soon. https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=88R&Bill=HB276
Legislative Update
HB 92 (Homesteader's Bill of Rights) has passed the House, and SB 829 (Cottage Food Reform) has passed the Senate. Now they have to travel the same path in the opposite chambers - your help is needed to keep them going!
HB 92 (Homesteader's Rights) will be voted on by Texas House tomorrow 4/17
HB 92 will be voted on by the Texas House tomorrow: Here's a quick primer on what the bill does - and doesn't do. It's the enabling legislation for HJR 9, the "Texas Homesteader's Bill of Rights" - it says you have the right to conduct certain activities on your homestead including: raising up to 6 hens or 6 adult rabbits, growing vegetables and fruit trees, harvesting rainwater, installing solar panels, keeping a backup generator, and running a cottage food business.
It is not part of a globalist agenda to limit our protein supply.
HB 92 (Chickens/Gardens/Self-Reliance Bill) will be voted on by the Texas House on Monday, April 17!
Finally "un-stuck" from the Calendars Committee, HB 92 is on the House's General Calendar for Monday, April 17.
What does this mean? Tomorrow is a massive statewide call-in day of support! EVERY Texan needs to be calling their State Representative and telling them to vote YES for self-reliance, YES for HB 92.
Find out who represents you: https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home
You are calling your State Representative, phone number starts with 512-463-###X.
OR - Call the Capitol Switchboard at 512-463-4630 and give the operator your home address and ask to be connected to your State Representative.
What to say: "Hi, I'm a constituent and I support HB 92. It's on Monday's General Calendar, and I want Representative _______ to vote YES." Feel free to add a sentence or two about why it's important to you:
DO be friendly
DO be brief
DO NOT be scared to call :)
Watch this morning's hearing on HB 276 (Home Food Security aka "Chicken") bill. Homemade Texas board member Amy Blea is the last of the 3 witnesses. We are working hard for you! Become a member to support our work. https://homemadetexas.org/join/ The bill was left "pending" which is completely normal. Two similar bills, HB 92 and HJR 9, are currently languishing in Calendars due to opposition from builders groups. YOUR CALLS ARE NEEDED. Call the Capitol Switchboard at 512-463-4630 and give the operator your address and ask to be connected to your State Representative - OR click here to find out who represents you: https://wrm.capitol.texas.gov/home What to say: "Hi, my name is ______ and I'm a constituent. I support all the self-reliance bills, HB 92, HJR 9, and HB 276. I think they deserve to be voted on by the full House." You can add a sentence or two about your own experiences.
