Today she would have been 85....

When I think about the women that have shaped me the most throughout my life, she is at the top.

I am grateful to have THAT relationship with my grandmother. We were close, very close.

And when I walked in her door.... SHE. DROPPED. EVERYTHING. to gave me her full attention. Whenever I came home after leaving for college, she made sure the whole small town knew that I would be home for the weekend. There would be a newspaper article in our town paper the following week recapping our visit and the latest news on me! Think I'm kidding, well, I'm not!

She believed in me more than ANY other human on this planet did. She INVESTED in me and that made me not only believe in myself more but made me reach higher, dream bigger goals, and continue to follow my passions.

Picture Reese Witherspoon coming home in Sweet Home Alabama because that is how I felt. She told everyone that I was a fashion designer that got to go to NYC every month. (Well, I DID design clothes and I DID get to travel to markets, but working for a company not my own fashion empire as she made it sound.) Remember, the part in the movie where Reese's friend says that she likes her top and asks, "YOU know Jacqueline Smith!?" That was how my grandmother treated me. A top celebrity in her eyes and she was not afraid to tell everyone in the town just how proud she was.

I could talk to her about ANYTHING and be free of any judgement. She would always tell me, "Let your heart guide you." And "Does that feel right in your heart?"

She was and still is an everyday influencer in my life.

I want you to take a few minutes today and think about women in your life that have been everyday influencers to you. What qualities do or did they have?
