We are so proud to have the Instructional Assistant of the Year and Teacher of the year here at Pollard! Mr. West and Mr. Smith are two all around great guys and we couldn’t be more thrilled for them! They are definitely deserving!

6th grade had an in-school field trip today where they learned everything Rome! Teachers led stations that taught a wide variety of topics such as Roman math and numerals, amazing Roman inventions, diet and foods, and much more! There was also a virtual learning lab tour bus on site to take kids on a 360-degree visual Rome experience too!
Studying the life of Anne Frank by reading “Diary of a Young Girl” from the 8th grade ELA curriculum. Students annotated inferences as they read and made connections to the text.
8th grade band students welcoming in rising 6th graders from North Chatham this morning! We’re excited to have them join the Mustang family next school year!
There will be an information session on va**ng Tuesday, April 30th from 6:00-7:30 via zoom. THIS EVENT WILL BE IN SPANISH. Teachers, parents and caregivers are invited to join! The event is being organized by CCS Student Services and sponsored by Chatham Drug Free. The presentation will be conducted by Poe Health Center.
We had a few district leaders in the building today and saw some great things happening across all grade levels. Collaboration, differentiation and high student engagement!

MBP staff working on differentiation ideas for our students. Teachers looked at written portraits of our students and determined best practices for differentiation of classroom assignments.
6th grade reading for 30 minutes about Ancient Egypt identity and culture for D.E.A.R. day.
Central Carolina Community College reports our 8th grade group was fantastic! Students learned about courses and offerings they can take in high school and beyond and asked great questions!

6th grade coding with Ozobots! Critical thinking and problem solving at its finest. Students created their own racetrack and then experimented with Ozobot bowling.

Students in Ms.Ringler’s class put their probability skills to use, creating fun games with varied chances of winning. There were a wide range of games including Plinko, table golf, and board games.

6th grade is now full of mathematical surgeons who practiced order of operations in the form of knee replacements, appendectomies, and heart surgeries.
Ms. Keesor’s 8th grade classes learned about the rise and fall of Latin music in America over time and displayed their understanding by creating roller coasters. Great work students and Ms. Keesor!

Congratulations to our Pollard Spelling Bee representatives at the Chatham County Spelling Bee tonight. 🐝 We are proud of them and the time and effort it took to prepare for the competition!
In 7th grade math, students worked with partners to identify angle relationships and their missing angle measure. It was a fun activity with different levels of difficulty.
