What does everyone think of this cover design? I think I have a winner.

Okay, Thanks everyone for their input on the cover design. What do you think? I'm wanting to change the subtitle, which is an extremely important element. Of course, not having read the book - YET - it might be difficult to make suggestions. I'm looking for something that will make people want to open it up and read. It must be pertinent, timely and compelling. Here's what I have so far, as an alternative to what's currently on the cover. Let me know your favorites and suggest edits, as desired:

Rather than focusing so much on the theme of The Fishly I’d like to subject it to a test of pure writing. Is it poetic, in the context described below? Only one way to find out. Get your copy today.

So true.

The Fishly is my book about my journey through abuse. There was no way to get around it. My hope is that it empowers others to make the difficult journey.

I hope my book, The Fishfly, and this group’s feeds, help others to understand this misunderstood epidemic, destroying lives at every turn, right under our nose.

A word about CSA. The worst part isn’t the sexual assault. It’s the trust the abuser builds up, the hope for meaning and acceptance, the feeling that all will finally be set right, which is ripped away in the assault. He made me think he believed in me when no one else did. That’s why it hurt me so badly. It’s the grand betrayal of trust. Moral: be sure the kids in your life know they are loved and appreciated.

Americans have been groomed by djt. His cult followers trust him with their lives. When the bubble bursts, when they realize it was all a scam and that they’ve been sucked into something horrific, used as pawns to settle his vendettas, there will be mass mental breakdown, just as we now see mass insanity.

Abuse, miscommunication, a lack of compassion, fear of knowing, a desire to protect the innocent all sneak up and become justifications (excuses) for the breakdown. When it really is just ego, the feeling of being right, that is the elephant in the room. I pray for my family, that healing of this scourge be lifted. That communication and understanding begin to flow so each of us can find our way to forgiveness and relationships can be mended.

I did not write warmly about a number of not so warm remebrances from my past, one in partiticular. One charming villain still stands out, the only name I didn’t change in my telling of “The Fishfly.” His name is Dr Gusto Fernandez and may he rot in hell for what he did to me. The pen can be a very stern judge indeed.

I have a whole chapter in my book (The Fishfly) about my sister’s Barbie fe**sh. It gets into stuff I doubt the movie does. I could be wrong but it is unlikely. I may see the movie when it comes to Netflix.

Teach your kids that safe adults don't ask children to keep secrets.

This took some time. I could not trust my instincts so I stopped listening to them. Happy to report I can differentiate between the two now.

Man, have I worked through it. Happy to report it no longer consumes me or rules me. I am a strong survivor.

The reframing process of CSA is a necessary step for healing. At some point we move from victim to survivor and finally to someone who has overcome adversity through sheer will. The scars remain but we are in control of how we use our wisdom and insight. We are complex, nuanced in our opinions and strong in our resolve. We have struggled to find our sense of justice, of right and wrong. We act not just for ourselves but on behalf of the millions of others who have suffered from abuse.
