Robert’s Airing Of Grievances

⁃ 1 People who decide to call you while they’re standing near 10 barking dogs or what sounds like 4 jackhammers at a construction site in a tunnel and they’re frustrated with YOU because you can’t understand what the f*** they’re saying.

⁃ 2 People who request money on social media for their birthdays. Why should we pay you for living another year? Life is your gift.

⁃ 3 The folks who ask me if I’m a police officer when I wear my “Undercover Police” t-shirt.

⁃ 4 When people comment in a thread without OBVIOUSLY reading the posted article.

⁃ 5 People who blame the results of their poor choices on “the devil”.

⁃ 6 Too many so called “authors”. Books full of misspelled words and grammatical errors. Some of the “books” are glorified pamphlets. Self published books have been more miss than hit in my experience.

⁃ 7 People who think typing “X-Mas” is an attack on “Christ”, when X actually comes from the Greek letter Chi which is the first letter of the word Christos (anointed).

⁃ 8 Religious zealots who aren’t theologians. Many don’t know the difference between tradition and actual religious scripture.

⁃ 9 People who make lists.

⁃ 10 People who don’t understand irony.

⁃ 11 One uppers. One-uppers are the people who always have a story that takes the last thing said to another level. They can always one-up you, no matter the category. They’ll likely make a longer list than this one.

⁃ 12 The self absorbed conversationalist. Potentially even worse than the one-upper is the person who always has a way of relating the conversation back to themselves. It’s indicative of the person not listening and rather, just waiting for their turn to talk.

⁃ 13 People who “don’t see color or race”. This isn’t a flex. Acknowledge people’s differences, just don’t judge them.

⁃ 14 Guys who can name every team, conference, and division in the NFL but don’t know the three branches of government.

⁃ 15 Calling a lip synced dance performance without live musicians a “concert”.

⁃ 16 Grown a** women with “baby hair”.

⁃ 17 Music streaming…I gotta have a physical copy (or at least a downloaded file) and those platforms are ripping artists off.

⁃ 18 The people who have extra “letters” behind their names and can barely make their subjects & verbs agree. 👀

⁃ 19 The women who stop whatever they’re doing and stick their tongues out and start twerking as soon as they hear “Cash Money taking over for the 99 to the 2000s”.

⁃ 20 People who embarrass and humiliate their children on social media as a form of “discipline”. They’re parenting for likes and scarring their children in the process.

⁃ 21 Florida.

⁃ 22 All of the people I’ve held doors for over the years who didn’t say thank you, I should’ve tripped your trifling a**es up.

⁃ 23 The folks who make vague posts online. I refuse to give you the attention you crave. You know who you are.

⁃ 24 Name dropping/ humble bragging folks. A humble brag is a statement which appears to be modest or casual, but is actually meant to draw attention to someone's impressive qualities or achievements.

⁃ 25 Flava Flav singing the national anthem.

⁃ 26 The trout mowt simp who unfriended me because I disagreed with his opinion on 90’s R&B being “the best”… It’s a blessing when the trash removes itself.

"Why is jazz not part of the pop scene anymore?
Hancock - “Because it's not the music that matters anymore. People don't care about the music itself anymore, but about who makes the music. The public is more interested in celebrities and how a certain artist is more famous than music. It changed the way the audience relates to music. He no longer has a transcendental connection to music and its quality. Just wants the glamour. Jazz doesn't want to be part of it. Do you know why? It's not about humility, or arrogance, a posture ′′ we don't want to be famous, we're underground ". None of that. Jazz is about the human soul, not about the appearance. Jazz has values, teaches to live the moment, work together, and especially to respect the next. When musicians gather to play together, you have to respect and understand what the other does. Jazz in particular is an international language that represents freedom, because of its roots in slavery. Jazz makes people feel good about themselves.”

People's fear of diversity, equity, and inclusion can stem from various factors.

Here are a few reasons why:

I. Fear of the unknown: People may feel uncomfortable with ideas or individuals that they are unfamiliar with or don't understand. This fear can lead to resistance or a lack of acceptance of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.

II. Threat to privilege: Some individuals may fear that efforts towards diversity, equity, and inclusion could undermine their perceived advantages or privileges in society. They might worry that a more equitable society could mean a loss of power or resources for themselves or their social group.

III. Misconceptions and stereotypes: Prejudices and stereotypes can influence people's perceptions, causing them to fear certain groups based on misinformation or biased beliefs. This can hinder acceptance and inclusivity.

IV. Fear of change: Humans are often creatures of habit, and change can be challenging for many. Diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives often challenge existing norms and systems, which can evoke fear or resistance to change.

V. Group dynamics: People tend to feel more comfortable in familiar social groups and may fear that increased diversity will disrupt their sense of belonging or social cohesion.

Sometimes my FB buddies post their thoughts about things and sometimes I have a dissenting opinion. Sometimes healthy conversations happen, sometimes people get offended. I’ve learned that some folks prefer echo chambers. They just want people to co-sign their point of view.

There can be various reasons why some people don't like to be challenged about their opinions. Here are a few possible explanations:

1. Comfort and familiarity: People often develop their opinions based on their experiences, beliefs, and values. Challenging those opinions can be uncomfortable, as it may require them to question their existing worldview or reconsider their beliefs.

2. Ego and self-identity: People often associate their opinions with their sense of self and identity. When their opinions are challenged, it can feel like a personal attack, leading to defensiveness and a reluctance to engage in a meaningful discussion.

3. Fear of change: Challenging opinions can potentially lead to new insights, growth, and change. However, change can be intimidating for many individuals. They may prefer the comfort of their current beliefs and resist any challenges that might disrupt their established perspective.

4. Cognitive biases: Humans are prone to various cognitive biases that influence the way we process information and form opinions. These biases can make it difficult for individuals to objectively consider alternative viewpoints, leading to a resistance to being challenged.

5. Social dynamics: People often seek validation and acceptance from their social groups. Challenging their opinions may risk social disapproval or rejection, which can discourage individuals from engaging in discussions that may challenge their beliefs.

It's important to note that not everyone avoids being challenged about their opinions, and some individuals actively seek out different perspectives to broaden their understanding. Engaging in respectful and open-minded discussions can help bridge the gap and promote healthy dialogue.
Echo chambers don’t promote growth.
