2023 Women’s and Girl’s Day at the Legislature
Join the West Virginia Women’s Commission for a livestream event as we celebrate the 2023 Women’s and Girl’s Day at the Legislature Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 10:30 a.m. at the West Virginia Culture Center.

Hello, I am Julie Palas. For the last 7 years I have had the honor and great pleasure of being the Interim Executive Director of the West Virginia Women's Commission (WVWC) while also serving as the Executive Director of the James "Tiger" Morton Catastrophic Illness Commission (JTMCIC). I have been asked to serve as the full time Director with the JTMCIC, so today, Friday, September 23, 2022, will be my last official day with the WVWC. There will be somewhat of a transition still taking place, but starting Monday, August 26, I am pleased to announce that Jill S. Upson, Director of the Governor's Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs, will take on the duties of Director of the WVWC. I hope you will take the time to welcome her. There is still work to be done to improve the lives of women and girls in West Virginia and I encourage each of you to continue to support the WVWC and ask to participate in upcoming quarterly meetings, activities and events. Each one of you is needed and will be welcomed. You can still contact me via the information below. I do hope you will stay in touch and reach out if there is ever any way I can assist you as a volunteer with your efforts on behalf of West Virginia's women and girls. You may also contact me in case you, your family or friends who live in West Virginia, have a life-threatening illness and need life-saving treatment and related travel assistance when all other resources are exhausted. Again, what a wonderful experience getting to work alongside so many of you these last seven years. You are true inspirations and such treasures worthy of praise. My best to each of you in all of your endeavors,, Julie Julie C. Palas, J.D.
