Traditional Luau from Hawaii!!!
This week for our working women's Wednesday we celebrate Christine Sun Kim. Christine Sun Kim is a deaf artist who has made significant contributions to the world of contemporary art and culture. She was born in California and raised in South Korea before returning to the United States to attend California State University in Long Beach. Kim's art is focused on the relationship between sound and language, and she often uses American Sign Language (ASL) and other visual forms of communication to create installations, performance art pieces, and drawings that explore the limitations and possibilities of sound in the deaf community. Kim's work challenges traditional conceptions of art and highlights the experiences of deaf individuals in a society that often privileges hearing individuals. She has had a major impact on Asian American history and culture by bringing attention to the unique perspectives and experiences of deaf Asian Americans and promoting greater understanding and acceptance of deafness in the broader Asian American community. Kim's work is a testament to the power of art to challenge assumptions, create new forms of expression, and promote social change. She is a truly inspiring figure who deserves to be celebrated for her creativity, innovation, and dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion in the arts.
