What happens when you have reached the last bit of your tea?
Refill please!
Then sit back down.
Take some time to sit still. Let your body come down from the high movement and stress. Shift from sympathetic nervous system to parasympathetic. Your mind and body will thank you for it. If a cup of tasty tea is in hand enjoy!

So our sometimes forgotten color WHITE, TAN and BROWN fruits and vegetables are so important.

Let’s take a look:
* Vitamin K, C, B
* Fiber
* Flavonoids
* Indoles specifically indole-3-carbinol found in cruciferous veggies like very white cauliflower. Cancer fighting. Aids in the metabolism of estrogen so great for gyn complaints. Aids in establishing a healthy gut.
* Allicin- antimicrobial, antioxidant activity, heart health, aids in seasonal allergies.

In the picture I have a roasted cauliflower steak, celery root & apple salad over ribs and a side of onion & garlic sauteed kale. Yes it was delish!

YELLOW

What's so special about yellow fruits and vegetables?

Here are just a few:
*Vitamin C to help the immune system and collagen production which helps your skin.
* Vitamins A, B, E
* Manganese
* Zinc
* Antioxidants for those free radicals.
* And many more!

In the picture above I roasted summer squash which are packed in manganese, B6, magnesium, fiber. Some are topped with crushed baked kale and flax seed meal.

BLUE & PURPLE here we go!
What's so special about blue and purple fruits and vegetables? 

Here are just a few:

* Polyphenols that help with brain function.

*Vitamin C to help the immune system. So that means great for your seasonal allergies, colds, etc.

*Anthocyanins- have you noticed these in another color of fruits and vegetables? Check my previous post!

* B vitamins* Manganese *Potassium* And many more!

Are you noticing anything in these posts about eating fruits and vegetables from the color of the rainbow? A living body needs nutritional support so grab something that came from the ground or off a tree, vine, etc in the wonderful array of colors nature has to offer. Your body will love you for it. 

In this post I made sweet blueberry, oat plus bread. Can you see the hues of blue/purple?
With side of blue and blackberries! Just missing some coconut whipped cream oh man

This spring keep assessing what you're eating!
Try to eat foods from all colors of the rainbow!

Let's go ORANGE!

What's so special about orange fruits and vegetables?

Here are just a few:
*Vitamin C to help the immune system. So that means great for your seasonal allergies, colds, etc.
*Beta-carotene is a carotenoid. It converts to Vitamin A in the body and helps with vision.
*Lutein and Zeaxanthin are carotenoids that give the pigment to some orange, yellow and red fruits and vegetables. It is needed to help maintain healthy eyesight. Reducing risk of macular degeneration and cataracts.
* Vitamin B6 which helps with mood.
* Vitamin B9 which help with detox pathways which can improve allergy sufferers. Among many other functions.

In the picture I'm prepping sweet potato fries!
Cut sweet potato and toss with coconut oil and garlic.
Spread out on an oiled tray or and bake at 400F until brown on each side. Turn at about the 15 min mark.

What's so special about well known GREEN fruits and vegetables?

Here are just a few:
*Highest amounts of fiber to "keep you nice and regular!" Aids in creating a healthy microbiome.

*Vitamin K which is needed in the blood clotting process, which is necessary for healthy wound healing. Also needed for brain health (memory) and bone health.

*Minerals like selenium found in bok choy. Helps with brain health and thyroid function.

* Other minerals like iron, magnesium, potassium and calcium help with the immune system and overall health.

* Vitamin B, C to help mood and your immune system

* Serotonin to help you sleep.

In the picture I quickly sauteed bok choy with garlic, onions, banana peppers and turnips😋

What's so special about the beautiful RED fruits and vegetables?
*Vitamin A, vitamin C
*Anthocyanins are your antioxidants found in some foods containing the red, blue and purple pigments. Anti-inflammatory Protects the heart and cancer fighting!
⭐ Red cabbage
*Some have lycopene another antioxidant. Cancer fighting.
⭐ Tomatoes
*Some have quercitin a flavonoid. Helps to put allergies to rest.
⭐ Red onions

Raw, cooked, smoothie, juice. Just get it in!

My favorite red fruits are raspberries!!
My favorite red vegetables are red radishes!!

Some years ago when visiting friends in Wales, I learned of the word “cuppa”. A good cup of tea that kind of wraps you up inside. 😄 Well that’s how my friend explained it and I’ve always kept that in my mind. So on this chilly evening in February I smile with memories of my visit to the hills, beautiful views and sheep. I sit comforted by the warmth of my cuppa, family in arms reach, grateful for the day’s lessons and hopeful about the future. A cup of tea allows you that moment to wait for it to cool down or get burnt. In life if we are constantly working even during times of personal success we could miss out on the beauty of the efforts taken and in a sense get burnt. The act of consuming tea can affect your mood, your level of anxiety and help you to relax. When drinking your tea, sit and reflect on the positive and make plans for another day.    

My cuppa :
Juice of ½ a lemon
Sliced quarter sized ginger
1 Tea bag of Throat Coat
Lemon Echinacea by
Traditional Medicinals

Improving your health can be done by a list of ways but here are my top simple steps that anyone can implement. Your immune system is so important!!! They are to be celebrated because without them we’d be unable to fight off viruses, bacteria and the like. We’d also not be able to coexist with the many microbes that are needed in this beautiful earth we call home. But sometimes we can develop overactive or underactive immune systems due to an overabundance of external toxins in the environment, stress, the type of food we consume if any, emotional trauma, lifestyle, work, where we live, our genes, etc, etc, etc. These issues are linked with allergies, PMS, PMDD, endometriosis, fibroids, anxiety, gut issues and the list goes on. There is always hope. Start with these small steps and for more help I’ll be glad to help.
