Transparency: Our customers always have access to the harvest date, laboratory data and information about the farm by simply scanning the QR code on the bottle or visiting our website. Quality: Each production batch is tested by a 3rd party independent laboratory. The results are freely accessible on our website. Freshness: the harvest date is always listed on the package.

A panino is, quite simply, an Italian sandwich made on a small loaf of bread. The word “panino” literally means “small bread” in Italian. These sandwiches are quite diverse, from cold sandwiches to hot grilled varieties, and they are available in many regions of Italy. Prosciutto is the star of the classic Italian deli sandwich, which is why a simple panino of fresh bread and prosciutto is so dang good.

Perfect for a day at the pool or the beach, simply take a loaf of good Italian bread and fill with procuitto, tomato, buratta, basil, Mariella & Grace olive oil and a little cracked pepper.

As some of you know, I had tried to private label olive oil. I had found the perfect flavor profile, it was from Puglia which is a beautiful region of Italy producing green gold. However, soon after selling out of my first batch, I was unable to get the same olive oil I had specifically chosen. I realized that this was just not something I wanted to continue to pursue.

Recently, I purchased a bottle of Mariella and Grace olive oil at one of the Italian Markets I wrote about. The flavor is pure heaven, also from Puglia. I reached out to tell them how much I loved it. Then I learned the story and I love it even more. Family, keeping traditions alive, the finest quality. Also, its won several awards!

This olive oil will be gracing my salads, vegetables, pastas, grilled meats and seafood.

Did you know that the color of an extra virgin olive oil is not an indication of its quality? The official olive oil tasting glass is tinted cobalt blue to intentionally mask color of olive oil, shifting the taster’s perception to the important senses…taste and smell.

This year we will be holding numerous tasting events at our retail and restaurant locations (surrounding Charlotte, NC region). It’s a wonderful chance to taste unique products from Vieste-Gargano and learn what to look for in a quality EVOO.

Cozze Ripiene Al Sugo, or stuffed mussels in sauce… It may be one of the most served dishes on the coast of Gargano, yet I’ve never seen it in the USA. Except for in my kitchen 😊. This dish is infused with the flavor of the sea and very easy to make. It’s usually served alone as a starter, but you can add it to a pasta too. Follow the link for the recipe!

Hello friends. I’d like to share a little family history… My great uncle and brother to my grandmother, Don Antonio Spalatro, was a larger than life figure in Vieste who died at the young age of 28 (1954). A very dedicated priest and servant, especially to the poor and sick, he has been in the stage of beatification to become a Catholic saint. His final resting place can be seen inside the main cathedral (Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta) in Vieste.

In the second photo, Don Antonio is seen at the port of Napoli saying goodbye to his sister and his niece (Mariella, my mother) as they depart for their new life in America.

This past weekend marks 69 years since his passing and a special ceremony was held in Vieste to unveil the new website dedicated to Don Antonio and his life. I also am happy that there is now some translation in English for our American friends. You can visit the website here…
