If you did not graduate from college they are considered "First-Generation" college students and should seek out their college's Student Support Services to inquire about the TRIO program. This a government funded program that this population of students is qualified for that offers support services, tutoring, ($$$$ for books and sometimes towards tuition!)! So many kids don't even know about TRIO so they never seek the assistance!

LIEAP, the Low Income Energy Assistance Program, is a federally funded Low-Income Energy Assistance Program that provides eligible households with a one-time payment to their heating vendor to offset the high cost of heating during the cold-weather months. Depending on the household’s primary heating source, the payment will be $300, $400 or $500.



Households with a person aged 60 or older, or someone receiving disability benefits and services through the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services can apply for help covering the cost of heating their homes beginning Tuesday, December 1, 2020.



All other households can apply from Monday, January 4, 2020 through Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
