One of our amazing volunteers delivered a beautiful Olympic-themed Love Box to the family they’re matched with in our program—a single mom with six children ranging from toddlers to teens. (She deserves a gold medal if you ask us!🏅)

This intentionally curated box was filled with goodies like Old Navy Olympic t-shirts for each of them, Disney-themed ears for the girls, and berets for the boys. The box also included a delicious assortment of treats such as macarons, eclairs, and Italian ice to capture the Olympic spirit in France, along with their favorite Stars and Stripes Veggie Straws to keep the theme going! 🤩

For mom, there was a special box filled with essentials like dish soap, paper plates, hand sanitizer, body lotion, and relaxing eye masks. Each item was thoughtfully chosen, making every family member feel truly special! ❤️

A huge thank you to Cabarrus County DSS for organizing a special screening of Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot for our local foster care community. 🫶🏼

This remarkable film shares the true story of Donna and Reverend Martin as they ignite a movement of compassion in their East Texas church for 22 families to adopt 77 of the most difficult-to-place kids in the foster system. This movie was incredibly powerful, inspiring, and the casting was beyond amazing. If you haven’t seen it yet, it truly is a must-see. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Juneteenth serves as a powerful reminder of the work that still lies ahead. As we celebrate freedom and African American culture, let’s also recommit ourselves to building a society where every child, regardless of their background, has an equal opportunity to thrive and succeed. This month, we celebrate the work of the wonderful people who support families and help them stay together. From bio parents, foster parents, social workers, judges, attorneys, and guardian ad litem, it takes everyone working together in the best interest of the children.

Reunification not only keeps families intact, it allows children to remain connected to extended families, cultures, traditions, schools, friends, and communities.

Impact Story: Dare to Dream Mentorship Program ✨

Meet Mentor “M” and teen girl “B” – a dynamic duo whose bond has flourished in such a short time!

Our case manager shared this beautiful moment:
“’B’ lit up when I asked her about ‘M’. She showed me the beautiful bracelets they made together, with each charm holding special meaning. They each have half of a butterfly, and when put together, it becomes whole. They also have charms of the world because ‘B’ says they are both ‘out of this world.’ This relationship is flourishing, and her confidence is already increasing.” 🦋🌎🤍

Consistent, supportive relationships are crucial in healing trauma experienced by children in foster care.

Trauma is complex and changes the way we interpret the world. The evidence is clear: when children have adult relationships that make them feel safe and protected, they are better able to weather difficult periods and are less likely to face negative consequences of trauma later in life.

Our Love Box volunteers and Dare to Dream Mentors provide stability and trust, helping to overcome the negative effects of trauma. By fostering these connections, we can improve mental health outcomes, enhance educational achievements, and reduce the likelihood of homelessness and incarceration among foster youth.

Together, we can change the statistics. 👏🏼

We’re still reminiscing about Saturday’s A Million Dreams Family Festival and can’t pick our favorite part of the day!

From the joy on kids’ faces as they played games and won prizes, danced with , and indulged in massive over-the-top milkshakes from , it was a day filled with smiles. 🥰

June is just around the corner (how?!)

June Love Boxes are all about building experiences and relationships. It’s not the actual box of items that makes our programs so impactful, it’s the consistent presence of Love Box volunteers. 🤍

This month, bring joy with outdoor water toys, sidewalk chalk, reusable water balloons, beach towels, and popsicles. Create unforgettable moments with a trail walk, bike riding, movie outings, bowling (many places offer free bowling for kids this summer!), picnics at splash pads, trips for frozen yogurt, or library visits. ☀️💦🚲🍦📚🎳🍿

These activities help children let loose and enjoy the day, learn to trust and rely on their Love Box volunteer, and give caregivers a much-needed break. 🙌🏼
