I was surprised a little while ago to receive a UPS delivery of advance copies of Charlotte Magazine's May issue, which features an article about my history as a NoDa artist and the memoir that I'm writing about the art district. I got chills when I opened the envelope!

So, I believe that this whimsically rendered painting will need explanation: In the not too distant future my wife Lisa will be retiring from the Air National Guard after many years of service. In anticipation the two of us will be spending the time before that happens in search of the perfect mountain house to call home for the next chapter of our lives. As to the symbols in the painting: It seems like in the past year the owl has become our spirit animal. They surround our house and Lisa even got to hold one captured at the base. As always, my artistic muse will be following me and hopefully our musically gifted daughter, Elysia will compose a ballad. Above us flies the plane that was part of Lisa's work for so many years, The C130, dropping good will across our lives. The baby goat? Well...we are actually contemplating adopting one, (Lisa loves them and they are pretty darn cute), to go with our dog Charlotte and cat, Hamilton.
