It’s ! TIRS Teachers and madrichim came together for a day of learning, preparing, and playing! After meeting their teaching teams, the madrichim kicked off their year-long training on inclusion while our teachers began preparing for the school year. We finished our day setting up our classrooms to welcome our students back on September 15!

This week is Shabbat Chazon, Shabbat of vision, followed by Tisha B’Av, mourning the destruction of the temple, and then Shabbat Nachamu, Shabbat of Comfort. Can we hold all of these feelings at the same time?

This week I offer a song to the text Nachamu Ami, comfort my nation, because we are in a sad and complicated time both on the Jewish calendar and more urgently in the present moment of our history.

May our vision and our ability to reach out to eachother for comfort pave the way to a better world.

Our House, Your Home.

אין כמו בבית !

Ayn k’mo babayit - There‘s no place like home!

The Hebrew word for home, bayit, transcends the brick and mortar structure, as it also describes a state of mind. Temple Israel is not only a gathering place, but it is a place to engage with Judaism and to transform your life through Torah, worship and acts of loving kindness.

Our egalitarian kehillah kedosha was founded in 1895 by visionaries and is continued today by visionary lay leaders, clergy, and professional staff who want to help you find a sacred and safe place to connect to each other and to Judaism. Won’t you join us on this journey? Temple Israel….our house, your home.
