Scott Stadium Scoreboard
At Scott's Stadium, Design Electric has been assigned the job of supplying power to the central structure, necessary for energizing the new panels for the larger screen. We've introduced a fresh 480-volt feed to the building, incorporating three 200-amp disconnects for each of the three floors. The top floor will draw power from an existing emergency panel within the building. To accomplish this, a boring contractor drilled from slightly over 500 feet, allowing us to pull the required wiring.
In the pictured gear room, our team installed a large junction box measuring 30 by 30 inches on the back wall. From this junction box, the team ran a parallel three-inch conduit to connect to a gear assembly and accommodate the installation of a 600 amp breaker within the gear.
Our team is slated to complete this project by the end of August, just in time for football season!

In the past month, our awesome team has been working on the installation of feeders through the distribution panels and successfully pulling feeders to the apartment panels. This accomplishment marks the completion of the termination process, allowing us to commence the systematic energization of various components to bring power to the building.
Our current primary focus is on energizing fan coil units and lower coiled units, essential for providing heating and cooling to the entire structure. Looking ahead in the next few weeks, our team will initiate the trimming out process on level two, involving the installation of fixtures. Final paint applications are scheduled for this week and the following month, paving the way for the installation of permanent fixtures, plates, and other essential components.
Additionally, work is underway on the installation of boxes in limestone, which will form an integral part of the building's base.
Nathan Crawford can be seen collaborating with James Belew as they undertake the wiring of a panel situated in the main electric room. This particular panel holds the critical responsibility of supplying power to the entire building, acting as the source for smaller panels that extend connections to other areas of the construction.
Colby Fitzgerald, Brian Paniter, and Marvin Hensley are seen installing electrical boxes.

Kerry Wyant, Design Electric’s Mentorship Director, supported first year apprentice Mason Hughes, and second year apprentice, Sual Ruiz-Vidal, in expanding their skill in blueprint reading and code application.
Kerry guided his students through the 'whys' for choosing specific sizes and types of wire and conduit, ‘why’ do we install it a certain way. Why a 1" conduit? What's the reasoning in the code book? Kerry's class goes beyond lecture, empowering our team to understand and make informed choices.
Providing our talented employees with continued opportunities to learn and grow their skill, is one if the many reasons we consistently deliver great projects to our clients.
