I wanted to thank everyone for accepting the invite to join my page to, I appreciate it. Maybe you have different ideas to improve things to, so that would be great to hear those things..:)

Hi Everyone..With a loved ones dementia Journey, there's many things we learned on the fly.

There are so many causes of dementia and different types of dementia; it can all get very confusing. In my moms case she had Lewy Body Dementia.

As a caregiver, providing care for a diagnosis thrust upon our family was stressful and at times frightening. There wasn't any time to educate ourselves about the basics of dementia or deciding to care at home or in a facility.

Over time we learned that we were not alone, as over 5 million people in the United States alone suffer for some form of dementia. When your able to find a facility for care, you join an extended supportive family, something that we really needed within the next year.



It is also important to understand, as a caregiver, you will become the expert on dementia and the behaviors of the person for which you are providing care. There will be good days and bad and as you educate yourself, you'll will be focused on the mental side, until the physical effects sneak up on you. Make sure that your experiences are shared with other family members, as well as, health care providers. and the support groups that are there for you. The experiences and knowledge will be invaluable for many that are just beginning on this journey as you become part of supporting care.

Hopefully this is something some can relate to, I will share more in future blog posts.

Hi Everyone, Tom Here! Thanks for stopping in...:) During this unusual pandemic time, we all have been affected in one way or another. I relate to many fellow bloggers out there that have received a Covid Layoff, since May 2020 for myself. I thought I would create a personal portfolio website, that would include my resume, blog and even an online store. Something I never thought about considering, but thinking outside the box to create a successful opportunity and share ideas sure is appealing.

I'm also a Dementia Advocate, since my mom recently passed from lewy body Dementia. I totally understand the dynamics of how this changes family priorities, emotions, frustration, learning on the fly, caring for you loved one at home, versus finding a good facility that specialized in memory care, finding an elder care lawyer, and understanding the financial aspect. In future Blog posts, Hopefully my family's journey may be something that can assist.

when you think about it, your parents were there when you needed them and stumbled in fell, and now its our duty to be a good son, or daughter, since they need us to be there advocate. There will be good and bad days, but its not anything you cant get through.
