Starting June 14th, Amazon is going to start using their devices for "Amazon Sidewalk." In a basic sense this is just going to allow your WiFi to be shared in a mesh network. It will be on be default unless YOU turn it off. This also applies to Ring devices as well. Here is an article from Wired on what it is (if you want more info) and how to disable it.

How to Turn Off Amazon Sidewalk The company is enlisting your Echo and Ring devices into an internet-sharing mesh network starting Monday. It’s not too late to opt out.
Happy Friday! In the ever changing world it's important to be vigilant. Identify theft and online fraud has increased exponentially over the years. Criminals use current events and target individuals. Covid relief and the current economic state is no different - be vigilant. Companies will not ask you for your password. Another thing to consider is the use of public wifi and exercising caution when logging into your accounts. Criminals will use software and hardware to collect your information to gain access. Lastly, multi-factor authentication is by far a safer approach to keep your information secure.
Another reason October was the perfect month to announce WildFyre Cyber Solutions, is it is National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM). Periodically throughout the month I will be posting information to educate, help increase your security posture, or at a minimum just remind you of what you already know regarding the ever changing field. Every security event has the same common denominator which is - the user.
So here is my first post about the most common type of attack, Phishing. Phishing has been around forever but has just evolved with the times. Phishing targets the weakest aspect of information systems; the users. From uneducated users to complacency, phishing can target anyone and have a huge negative impact. Scammers are always adapting and changing their tactics which is why its important to think before you click.
