Britten Video
TONIGHT, the CSO performs our 23/24 Masterpiece Classic Concert Series Finale: Sun, Moon & Stars! Our closing piece at tonight’s concert is Four Sea Interludes by Benjamin Britten from the opera Peter Grimes. This piece was also selected as CSO’s Music in Words 2024 contest which challenged 3rd & 4th grade students to write a creative story to the music. Helios Overture
Carl Nielsen’s Helios Overture is a musical tribute to the Greek Sun God, Helios (also referred to as Titan), who would ride his chariot in the sky from East to West. CSO Music Director and Conductor William Intriligator discusses the background and inspiration behind Nielsen’s beautiful overture. This Saturday at 7:30pm at the Cheyenne Civic Center the CSO welcomes award winning soprano, Aundi Marie Moore, as the featured soloist on Puccini’s “Un bel dì” from Madama Butterfly and Dvorak’s “Song to the Moon” from Rusalka. In this short video Miss Moore talks in more detail about each piece! Her personality is infectious and her voice angelic, you won’t want to miss seeing her LIVE this Sat., Apr. 13th! This Saturday, Apr. 13th at 7:30pm at the Cheyenne Civic Center the CSO will present the world premiere of the orchestral version of We Seven by American composer, Derek Jenkins who will be in attendance Saturday night!! The musical and outer space connections he has woven throughout the piece will leave you astounded in so many ways! Here Derek Jenkins discuss his incredible piece in more detail in this short video. Tonight's concert, Holst's The Planets features a Women's Chorus prepared by Sean Ambrose, it is comprised of local Cheyenne singers who have volunteered their time and talents for this special performance. They will be featured on Carlisle Floyd’s aria, “Ain’t it a Pretty Night”, from his opera Susannah in addition to The Planets. The evening's program will end with the short, familiar “Clair de lune” by Debussy in a beautiful arrangement for orchestra. Hear Maestro Intrilgator discuss both these pieces in this short video.
