Happy harvest moon…a little late!!! I hope she was a big, bright and visible in your neck of the world. This arrangement is truly a celebration of a completion of a cycle!! Seeds started around the time of the new moon in Aries back on March 21 and April 20th. Now it’s the time my Wyoming gardens could vanish with a cold night but it looks like they may hold for a little over a week. Still the transition is here. Blooms are slow and seeds are forming. Here you see fresh annual phlox, straw flower(which i’ll dry), pole beans (too tough to eat and most have gone to seed), red orache (some dry and preserved too), the park’s finest weeds, and some very seedy dried bupleurum. So the moral of this reel is that I can’t dance, but I can design. And even if you think I can’t do either…not gonna stop me. I’m having fun. This time of year I finally have time to make my way back to movement based classes and activities. I was fresh outta yoga and I’m looking forward to badly dancing my ass off in all my favorite ways to the worst music my millennial heart desires. I also look forward to lots of writing, reading, tea drinking, soup making, dry flower playing, and business dreaming. What are the things you can’t wait to do once your season slows???............#wyomingflorist #fallflowers #strawflower #downtowncheyenne #wyominggrown #urbanflowerfarmer

Apples for Sunday meditation. To me a literary and artistic symbol that has morphed from a story of shame to power. 🍎🖤. Something I see in dreams often and have used in art through the years. Their meaning and place always changing. These are local. This arrangement also included some preserved and de-seeded russian olive. ......#apple #apples #falldecor #autumn #wyoming
It’s wreath time!! I was looking back at wreaths I’ve made in the past (and recently) and thought I’d share for your own wreath making inspiration or if you want me to make you one DM me ( I’m a couple weeks out so if you want one do it soon!!) Wreaths start at $60 for a 12”-14” and go up from there (a few odd balls maybe less). They are all hand wired by me and are time intensive. My wreaths are all natural…no petroleum based glues. Just plant material and metal that you can recycle. It’s just the way I like to make them. It would be faster and cheaper to use glue a cold or hot glue but it does not appeal to me. I will occasionally use a plant based biodegradable glue to adhere a dried flower to wire. I use plant materials that are found in Wyoming, Nebraska or Colorado. I grow most of what I use to make them but I do responsibly harvest some leaves, pods, and grasses with permission on others’ land. I use a mixture of air-dried, silica-dried, and naturally preserved materials. All natural, sun-bleached (it mimics chemically bleached product so I want to be clear) and biodegradable material. I do have one older wreath in there with non-naturally bleached product, but now I use a natural process to achieve a similar look. Sun bleached preserved product is great in areas where the sun hits. And still, there are no harmful chemicals for you, me or the earth to deal with. 🌎 🤍Questions??! Ask below. I have a mix of flower friends and customers on here so I include more technical info for the flowery humans but I hope it gives a little insight to anyone else who cares! .#driedflowers #driedflorals #botanicalart #everlastingflowers #urbanflowerfarmer #fallflowers #silicagel #dryingwithsilica #wreath #falldecor #autumn #fallwreath #autumnwreath #wyomingflorist #downtowncheyenne #wyoming
Before and after of my little urban cut-flower farm and old house.…well I don’t know that there is a really an after as I’m not done but there is a now:) this is where I’m at. Things are changing. I wanted to update a previous post I made at the beginning of season 2. I’m now nearing the end of season 3 here in Wyoming. Frosts can come as early as the end of September. Significant changes are the hail netting. So much hail this year. I think we had some in late March and the last was a few weeks ago🤞. Also the front yard beds were an addition made because the exterior is almost completed.Anyway it’s been a project and I’m busy today so not too many details so ask if you have questions and I will answer or maybe update the post with some more. I grow and sell locally and also have the ability to ship to most of the US. Fresh and dried. I do a stand in the side of my Friday/Saturday 8am-2pm. My floral studio is under renovations and on the first floor so I’m not open any other hours. When it does open it will be by appointment only so I can focus on design. I grow but I’ve also been a professional floral designer for the past decade. My offers are a little non-traditional because I’m a one woman show who prefers to keep it that as much as possible. I also grow sustainably and do so in design as well…no floral foam!! My specialty is dried things and I’m busy right now trying to get those out into the world while also doing the stand and farmers markets in Cheyenne and Laramie. Thanks for watching and reading. Part 2 of 2. How to remove silica and uncover your dried flowers...these are dahlias. . . . . . . #driedflowers #driedflorals #floraldesign #botanicalart #floralart #everlastingflowers #localflowers #dahlia #silicagel #dryingwithsilica
Part 1 of 2. How to remove silica and uncover your dried flowers...these are dahlias. . . . . . . #driedflowers #driedflorals #floraldesign #botanicalart #floralart #everlastingflowers #localflowers #dahlia #silicagel #dryingwithsilica
How to wire dahlias before drying in silica. I do this because I almost always attach to a stem, pick or extend the piece of wire to attach to something. This lowers the likelihood of damaging the fragile dried bloom. I use a 26 gauge wire but you could go thicker!! This isn’t the easiest to push through some so I definitely wouldn’t attempt thinner. . . . . . . . #driedflowers #driedflorals #floraldesign #botanicalart #floralart #everlastingflowers #localflowers #dahlia #silicagel #dryingwithsilica
How to dry dahlias in silica gel. Or at least this is the way I do😁🤍 Things I forgot to say: 1) I cut off the stems and just dry the heads because stems take much longer to dry. I save the stems and allow them to air dry so I can reattach the heads if I want to. 2)When you lay the dahlia heads out don’t let the petals touch. Supplies I use is available in the link in my bio. And there is a prior video about those supplies you may want to check out. I’m sure there may be something else so if you have questions just ask! . . . . . . . #driedflowers #driedflorals #floraldesign #botanicalart #floralart #everlastingflowers #localflowers #dahlia #silicagel #dryingwithsilica
