#WoodWednesday! Here are some things you may not know about our sustainable urban wood: 🍃𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱? Wood that comes from trees that grow in urban settings such as cities & suburbs. 𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘴𝘴-𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦. 🍃These trees are taken down due to disease, insects or construction & would otherwise end up in landfill. 🍃We divert over 25,000 board feet of wood from landfill every year. 🍃The urban wood we source is local to Chicagoland so it does not travel very far (𝘠𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯! 🥳). 🍃Because each tree is truly one-of-a-kind, no two tables are alike. Each piece of wood has its own unique characteristics, from grain variation to its knots. We believe each tree not only has a story to tell, but a second chance to bring joy to people's lives as distinctive, handcrafted pieces of custom furniture that last a lifetime. Final sailing for the 2016 season
Well, that's it folks ... our final sailing trip was last night, and damn what a night it was. We're blessed to live in such a beautiful place, both the natural and the man-made elements. Thanks to all of our friends who were able to join us on the 'far east side' of the city this summer. We look forward to hitting the water again next year!
